4. Bunt - a special type of offensive technique in baseball or fastpitch softball. In a bunt play, the batter loosely
holds the bat in front of the plate and intentionally taps the ball into play. The primary goal in bunting is to
ground the ball into fair territory, as far from the fielders as possible, generally while staying within the infield

5. Bullpen- exercise area for pitchers to warm up before they enter the game

routinely made or if the fielder misplayed the ball leading to the person to be safe or move up to another

base.

14. grand Slam- a home run that is hit when there are men on all three bases and therefore 4 runs score,

the most possible in one play.


15. Manager- the head coach who is responsible for overseeing and making the final decisions on all

aspects on and off of the field.

16. Memorabilia- objects kept or collected because of their historical interest, especially those associated

with memorable people or events.

17. Pea- A ball traveling at a high speed, batted or thrown.

18. Pinch Hit- bat in place of another player, typically at a critical point in the game.

19. RBI- a statistic in baseball and softball that credits a batter for making a play that allows a run to be

scored.

20. Relief Pitcher- A pitcher who enters the game in place of the previous pitcher.
21. Rookie- A new player who is entered into the leauge for their first season of play.

22. Sacrafice Fly- When there is a runner on third and the batter proceeds to hit a fly ball where the

runner on third base tags up and scores on the play.

23. Sacrafice bunt- Where first or second or both are occupied by a baserunner and the batter proceeds

to bunt the ball moving the runner up one base.

24. Scorched- When a ball is hit very hard, usually a line drive to any part of the field.

25. Set-up-man- a relief pitcher who regularly pitches before the closer. They commonly pitch the eighth

inning, with the closer pitching the ninth.

26. Seventh-inning-stretch- a tradition that takes place between the halves of the seventh inning of a
game – in the middle of the seventh inning. Fans generally stand up and stretch out their arms and legs

and sometimes walk around.


27. Single- the most common type of base hit, accomplished through the act of a batter safely reaching
first base by hitting a fair ball (thus becoming a runner) and getting to first base before a fielder puts him

out.

28. Strike- results when a batter swings at and misses a pitch, does not swing at a pitch in the strike zone

or hits a foul ball that is not caught.

29. Tater- The ball itself has been known as a "potato" or "tater" for generations. A long ball is thus a

"long tater", shortened to just "tater" for this specific meaning.

30. Triple- When a batter hits a ball and managers to reach third base safely while rounding all the other

bases besides home.

31. Triple play- Getting all three outs in one ball that is in play and automaticall ends the inning.

32.Umpire- The people who officiate the game and make the calls on balls and strike as well as out and

safe. Makes sure that the game moves smoothly.


33. Vendor- A person who usually walks around the ball park and sells food and drinks as well as snacks.

34. Walk- When a batter recieves 4 balls during one at bat they are given first base without penalty.
