Republican speech-inner-city political rally before an election

Tonight, ladies and gentlemen, I am here to promote my party’s support for zero tolerance
towards young criminals, something many people see as dirty word. It is not dirty, it represents the
reality that surrounds us. They are criminals and they should be treated accordingly.

As you already know, many of those children and young-adults coming from precarious
households have a tendency towards committing multiple types of crimes. It is over our capacity to
bring a social and economic change to those families, but what we can do is reducing the numbers of
crimes coming from those areas. Dangerous gangs, shootings, robberies -all of these things put
ourselves and our children in danger.

We believe that the change does not lie in us making the laws more permissive, so that
these children can spend a bit less time in juvenile prisons or pay lower fines. We believe that the
change is 100% dependent on their efforts. Punishment is meant to disincentivise them from
carrying out any illegal actions. They must learn how to take responsibility for their own actions and
become better citizens.
