Mandala Essay

My name is Anahi Maurer-Fuentes, I’m in 9th grade and today I’m going to be telling

you some things about myself. I will be talking about my interests like music, band, softball, etc.

I will be talking about the important things in my life like my academics, friends, family, etc. I

will also talk about the symbols on my mandala and how they symbolize the 5 most important

things in my life. Hopefully after you read my essay, you will understand who I am a bit more.

Ok well first of all to understand what my interests are, I’ll tell you about a few of them.

One of them is softball, I’ve been playing since I was 8-9 years old. My mom told me to try a

sport and there was a city league that I could play and I’ve loved it ever since. I like how much

teamwork is involved in the game and how you could really grow as a teammate playing this

sport. The softballs and the hearts on my mandala symbolize the love I have for the game and

how much I enjoy playing it.

Another interest of mine is band and music. I’ve been in band since 5th grade and played

an instrument since 4th grade. I like how you can make an inanimate object play a beautiful

song. Also how you could make anything you wanted with the instrument or work together with

other instruments to make an even more beautiful piece. I’ve got to admit though, high school

band is way more intense than middle school because of the many football games, competitions,

and reviews throughout the year, I enjoy it very much. The music notes symbolize my enjoyment

for music and band.

If you were to describe me in a few words I wouldn't know what to say so I asked some

of my friends to see what they had to say. I've been friends with them ranging from almost a year

to 5 years. The stick figures on my mandala symbolize my friends who I appreciate a ton. One of
my friends who I've been friends for almost a year said I am funny and cool. My friend since 4th

grade said I am caring and self reliant. Not going to lie, I agree with both of them, I try to make

friends by being friendly and trying to make them laugh or find out what funny to them and I

believe that I’m self reliant because I don't really depend on other people to do things for me. So

as a first impression when you meet me, you’ll probably think I’m funny. If you’ve known me

for a while you’ll probably get on my sweet or “caring” side. So as you can tell I’m a pretty

funny gal to my friends. I’d say you really have to know me to get to that side of me because

some part of me is introverted and another part is extroverted. Sometimes I don't like talking in

front of big groups but with a group of close friends I wouldn't mind a single bit.

Now my family is very important to me because unlike my friends I’ve obviously known

them my whole life, so they really know who I am. They are the ones who have taught me many

things throughout my life. I truly appreciate them for that. The house drawn on my Mandala

symbolizes my family because it’s the house where we all live in, as a family. I'm sure you’ve

heard of the phrase “family makes a house a home”. I think that phrase right there is very true

because I do love them for being there for me and just simply being my family.

The symbol of an A+ symbolizes my academics/grades. My grades are very important to

me because I want to get into a good college to study forensic science to be a forensic nurse and I

know with good grades and even better effort that goal will probably come true. If that doesn't

work out and I end up doing my plan B or plan C then that’s ok because I know that I put in my

effort and tried my hardest to make my goals come true. This essay is one of those things that

might help me achieve those goals. If I look back on the sand say wow I’ve really changed then

it might be better or who knows it might be worse, but I’m hoping I can grow from this.

Now that you have read about me hopefully you have an idea of who I am, what
my symbols mean, and what I’m like in real life as a friend or a person in general. Remember

I’m funny and cool! I think those are great traits of mine and my interests in softball and band

are pretty interesting, well at least to me they are.
