Definition of Cooperative Learning

Students learning goals maybe structured to promote cooperative. Cooperative, or individualistic


efforts. In every classroom, instructional activities are aimed at accomplishing goals and are
conducted under a goal structure. A learning goal is a desired future state of demonstrating
competence or mastery in the subject area being studied. The goal structure specifies the ways in
which students will interact with each other and the teacher during the instructional session.

According to David Johnson and Roger (1999) there are flue basic that alow successful small-group
learning :

 Positive interdependence: student feel responsible for their own and the groups effect.
 Face-to-face interaction : student encourage and support one another : the environment
encourages discussion and eye contact.
 Group behavior : group members gain direct intruction in the interpersonal, social, and
collaborative skills needed to work with outher occurs.
 Group processing : group member analyze their oun amd the groups ability to work
together.
