Reflection

Research paper:

Over all the days I’ve spent reading about the topic of animals in Zoos and Aquariums as well as the rules

and regulation of the AZA and how they are constructed differently like the EAZA which stands for

Europe association of zoos and aquariums. Turns out the EAZA can make their profit out of animals as

well as preserving them but there's been recent default of such delegations in the rules as to how the

animals are not being nurtured well and suffer from malnutrition. However, thanks to the protest of our

fellow citizens, the zoo been shut down till it came back open again. Now I forgot the zoo that this

happened in but I do remember it’s neglected care that it treated these animals. Still thanks to the people,

the rules and regulations were enforced and hopefully the animals are treated better.

What caught my attention in one of the rules of EAZA was the fact that animals can be killed if they are

ill, sicken, things like that and this is because of overpopulation which sound to me like a horrible idea to

kill innocent animals. Still they do not care about the animal individual self instead they care about the

money, profit and people amusement. Which to say, is the worst idea ever since we should both make

happy animals and humans to have a sustainable harmony.

Despite the issues of the EAZA and how they work things as well as how they aren’t specific enough

about the type of grass, how tall it should be, the amount required, water temperature, etc. They do have

some benefits like the preservation of wild habitats and animals as well as a beneficial education. Still I

suppose they do need to work on there laws, regulations or rules so that animals can be well. Afterall,

animals suffer symptoms like swaying, biting, rocking circling, even self-harm due to the conditions they

are put in. Enough say that animals don't belong in cages or any habitat locked.

SLE:

For my SLE I decide make a survey about Zoos contributing to the fact that upon doing my research

paper I came to a study that says not all humans pay attention to the education Zoos say they “bring in.”

Still we have to acknowledge that they do bring in attraction to different varieties of animals or the same
ones over and over again. As some people state in the survey of mines that they keep seeing the same

things over and over again not getting them information except not to mess with the animals or simple

details that aren't very informative for life.

For example, most people wouldn't know what to do if they ran into an animal, should they touch it, run,

or play dead?

For my next SLE I’ve decided to draw a picture of an elephant being caged in with the forest being

around it. I gave it detail as to how he had chains, a bucket, things like his facial expression. Now the

purpose of doing that is to hang it up and have people in school to come and right how they feel towards

this picture and the animals captivity. If it was right for it to be locked in a cage or so. As well as I wanted

to see their true response as to how if it’s normal to see an animal in a cage, as to how most people said it

was horrible while others didn’t care what happens to the animal behind the bars and just wrote pretty

elephant. To some I explained the topic of the animal captivity which I received negative feedbacks, to

others I said the contrary of animal preservation received positive feedbacks. Upon I saw, how if people

say it's one thing, others tend to follow or believe it’s true not really contradicting the method itself and

seeing if there’s anything else to it behind the story. Limiting the capacity to limit oneself thought for the

fear that they might be wrong.

For my Last SLE I’ve decide to do a blog of how you can take care of your Hamster which is called

MyHamsterCare. Now the purpose of this was to show that not all people know how to take care of their

pets (animals) properly especially since once you want to adopt a pet like a hamster your off your own in

figuring out if it’s going to survive the next day or not. To be honest when adopting a hamster or more,

they do give you the basics of the equipment but the pet store or shop don't exactly tell you how you

should clean it, if you should take it to the vet when, things like that. Just like how the system is flawed in

adopting so is the regulations of animals in zoos and aquariums. Which my whole purpose of creating a

website is to give advice in how to take care of your pet and so, for those who are amateurs and are

nervous like I was for the first time.

Overall:

My overall experience was good, I learned a lot of things that had to do with taken care of animals,

regulation of the people visiting the zoos, as well as I have a voice in fight for what’s right and wrong.

Not only that but further on I want to continue taking care of not only my hamster but also other animals.

I may start by visiting local shelters and contribute there if they may have me, or help in minor ways like

babysit dogs for free not money of course. I don’t mind doing things like this since I love animals with all

my heart.

Now upon doing my presentation I noticed that animals behavior worsen like for example Tilikum which

was a killer whale from a documentary blackfish, the whale turned out killing its owner. Which at the end

they blamed it on the owner Dawn and it was not cool but at the same time I don’t blame the animal itself

since it wouldn't have acted this way if it was in the wild. Still it can’t be change that such huge animals

are being held captive, Or can it?
