Jivdaya Charitable Trust (JCT) has affected and changed me in different

aspects. Sincerely, I wasn't a big fan of animals. Yes, I'm a little frightened as
well. But now that this volunteer programme is over, I do have a soft spot in
my heart for animals. I used to be so frightened to even touch a dog, but now
I know how to handle and transport them. When I first started volunteering
(on the day of orientation), I wondered how I would be able to tolerate the
foul stench and how I would manage to work here for 30 hours. But as the
volunteers increased, the environment became more hospitable. I discovered
a lot of brand-new information throughout these 30 hours. How the workers
there handled such harmed birds and animals is amazing. Even if they were
able to assist them decently, other animal’s circumstances were pitiful.
Working here has almost made me no longer fear animals. I mastered holding
a pigeon, which was a little challenging. I used to be a little afraid of dogs,
but now I know how to handle and carry them properly. The primary lesson I
took away from this endeavor is that just because these animals and birds
cannot talk does not mean they are emotionless. Like us, they experience
emotions. The ability to assist these animals and birds was the aspect of
working here that I found most fulfilling. The animals were fed food that we
had prepared. The dogs and animals received our special attention.
Additionally, we learned several exercises for cutting, folding, and
organizing the medi mops that were used when performing surgery on the
animals. I also learned how to properly tie the ropes to a bamboo so that the
birds could sit on it. Additionally, we organized the leaves and branches into
various baskets after sorting them. Also, we unloaded the boxes from the
vehicle and cut them properly and arranged them at the place they told us to.
The first thought that comes to mind upon seeing such injured animals and
birds is, "What is the cause of this?" I questioned them as to why this is
happening. They retorted, "Human Acts brought all of these creatures and
birds here." Sometimes, we humans harm such animals and birds without
even pausing to consider our actions. Some individuals assume it doesn't
matter and hit the dogs with their cars. It is significant! Dogs and cats are
also living creatures with the same rights to life as humans. We are not fit to
hurt them in this way. Some individuals beat the animals and dogs severely.
During the time of Uttarayan, large number of birds come to JCT who are
injured just because of Human things. This event was definitely a breath of
fresh air when I consider how it related to my academic studies. It gave me
the relief and stress-relief I needed to get through the hectic pase of the
university. However, once your mind has calmed down, you can even focus
while keeping an open mind for studying. In today’s age of selfishness, it is
imperative to prioritize animal welfare or to feel a generous sense of love and
care for animals.

Government legislation prohibits the inhumane treatment of stray animals

and has the power to do so. But we are aware that everything begins at home.
I've witnessed the trust's employees' tireless efforts on behalf of the abused
and abandoned animals. Even worse, I've seen how horrible it can get for any
animal. In some cases, I find it difficult to simply look at their state. It really
hurts your heart. Government legislation has the authority to forbid the cruel
treatment of stray animals. We are aware, however, that everything starts at
home. I've seen the staff members of the trust work tirelessly to protect
neglected and abused animals. Even worse, I've witnessed firsthand how
awful it can become for any animal. I sometimes find it difficult to just
observe their condition. We must help them in whatever manner we can
because we are a human species and have a duty to do so. The need for
knowledge of this is very real. It is past time for us to stop being so self-
centered and start asking for assistance.

If we ever see such animals and birds in such appalling conditions, we should
make an effort to contact the closest animal care facility or charity, such as
Jivdaya. There are people we care about who would aid us and take care of us
if we were to get harmed or experience any medical issues. In the same way,
we ought to consider these creatures and the birds. They also require care and
a proper recuperation, therefore someone else must take care of them.
Working here at JCT has taught me one thing about life: we should always
assist those who are in need (specially the unspeakable animals and birds).
Starting today, I want to feed cows, dogs, and cats in my neighborhood and
everywhere else. I made a self-promise to JCT that I would aid animals in
any way I could, and I will do my best to keep that promise. The impact of
this volunteer programme extends to your inner self. I've learned a lot as a
result of this encounter, improved my maturity as a person, and suggested
that I also look at the real world. I came to the conclusion that we should look
at the smaller world and feel that we have more than enough, rather than
chasing pleasure after money, celebrity, and other material things. And as we
are, we are whole and content.
Am I capable of bringing about a societal change? Well, I for one would love
to take part in it. I am aware that I cannot alter this society's attitudes on my
own. But I can definitely make the first move. I'll start by making an effort to
visit JCT whenever it is convenient. And make an effort to start more at
home. Additionally, we can ask those who are already helping animals and
birds to encourage more people to do the same. The only thing left to do is
raise awareness. Every person, in my opinion, has some sort of affinity or
soft spot for animals or birds. However, there are occasions when we damage
them by forgetting that their life matters as well. It's past time for us to realize
that they are just as significant as we are. Therefore, I believe that raising
awareness is necessary to prevent harm to animals and birds.

I'll remember this experience I underwent as a result of this volunteering

programme for the rest of my life. JCT will always hold a special place in my
heart, and I eagerly anticipate its return. I sincerely thank everyone who took
part in this; you have given me so much to think about and express. Also,
working here at JCT helped me make new friends.I actually realized what is
the meaning of perfect team work. JCT taught me a lot of things which can
also be implemented in my personal life and it cannot be described in words!
