Standard(s): Children will create and express their thoughts, ideas, and feelings through a variety of art experiences.
Materials:
● Potato
● Red paint
● Black paint
● Black permanent marker
● White card stock paper
Directions:
1. Cut a potato in half and let it dry
2. Dip potato in red paint and stamp onto paper, let dry
3. Draw a black line down the middle of each red oval with the marker
4. Dip a thumb in black paint and stamp on each red oval for the ladybugs head
5. Draw two small lines with marker off the lady bugs head, these will be the ladybug’s
antennas
6. Use a finger dipped in black paint to make the ladybugs spots
Modifications:
Easier challenge: draw lines of ladybug in for them
Harder challenge: allow them to do whole project

Performance Tasks/Goals:
Describing similarities and differences in the appearances, behaviors,
and habitats of plants.
Standard(s):
Children will explore the characteristics of living things.
Materials:
● 3 clear cups labeled “stems”, “leaves”, and “petals”
● Parts of 3 different flowers
● Work tray
Directions:
1. Take scissors and cut off leaves of flower
2. Then cut stem off
3. Then pull petalls off
4. Repeat steps 1-3 with all your flowers
5. Place parts of flowers in front of cups in work tray
6. Allow children to separate the parts into their designated cup
7. This will help the children demonstrate their knowledge of plants and their parts
Modifications:
Easier challenge: Put example of each in cup before children begin sorting
Harder challenge: do not provide example

Materials:
● Cotton balls
● Painters tape
● Clean squeeze bottles
Directions:
1. Make your start and finish lines with painters tape ( distance between start and finish
may vary depending on how much space you have available)
2. Show the children how to squeeze the bottle to make the cotton ball move
3. Explain to children that the first person to get their cotton ball to the finish line with the
squeeze bottle wins
4. Let the race begin!

Easier challenge: make race shorter
Harder challenge: make distance of race longer

● Fly swatters
● Balloons
Directions:
1. Blow up several balloons
2. Show children how to bounce balloon with fly swatter
3. Allow children to play
Modifications:
Easier challenge: make balloons larger so it's easier to hit it

the goods and services they need (economics; community workers)
Materials:
● Crayons
● Scissors
● Printable hats
● Tape or stapler
Directions:
1. Print out the hats.
2. Have children color the hat you printed.
3. Cut along dashed line. You will have two pieces.
4. Attach the two pieces on both sides with tape or staples to mke crown-style hat.
5. Explain to the children the job that goes along with each hat, for example the fire fighter
hat belongs to a firefighter and they help the community by putting out fires

Materials:
● 20 small triangles
● Pompoms
● Small tongs
Directions:
1. Cut 20 small triangles out of brown construction paper label them 1-20
2. Put pom poms in a bowl
3. Have children pick triangle
4. Have children place the corresponding number of pom poms above triangle with the
tongs
5. Children will be able to recognize and name the numbers on the triangles

Directions:
1. Blow up yellow balloon
2. Draw stripes and face so the balloon looks like a bumble bee
3. have children walk or run around while they're carrying a baby bumble bee during verse

4. Have children squish baby bumble bee during second verse

1. Fill pencil box with sand
2. Direct children to copy word given on card into sand

Materials:
● Tooth brushes
● white paint
● yellow construction paper
Directions:
1. Trace or draw a tooth outline on your yellow construction paper
2. Explain to your children that if we don't take care of our teeth then they can get stained and
discolored (yellow)
3. Next, show your child how brushing them can help to keep them white and shiny!
4. Demonstrate step 3 by having children paint the yellow tooth white with their toothbrush and
paint

● Book ( Dragons Love Tacos)
● Dragon hats made before reading story
● Taco ingredients and toppings (shells, beef, salsa, etc.)
Directions:
1. Read story to children
2. Don't forget to ask questions during story
3. Have children act out story as you read while wearing their dragon hats so they’re in
character
4. After story have children make tacos for snack
