FOREWORD
Telepathy, to many is already a proven raot.
The display of thought reading only oonri~s an al-
ready existing belief.
Predict the course of ruture events and you are
presenting the proof or miraole.
~~ Super Clip Line effect appears unoanny to
the lny audience. .dationality cannot aocount for it
unless psychic phenomena is accepted.
The operator will discover that he will get
more effect out of Super Clip Line than out or more
expensive and sophistioated psychic tests.
Super Clip Line should be presented in a se-
rious vein.
Apparently only the surface has been scratched.
The readers will no doubt came up with other variations.
Under the proper milieu, the spectators may even be
allowed to snip off some lines but care must be taken
that tilis does not s l ow up the tempo or the effect.
Care must also be taken to avoid diminishing the
oriGinal intent of the author, which is that the opera-
tor must pretend to know it all, the first line and the
last line or both final pieces of newsprint.
To avoid piracy of this conception, the idea was
rushed to the printers. That is why some of the pages
appear a bit untidy.
TlB Clip Line effect is not new. The erfect has
been around for years. Only the combination of ideas and
the presentation angles are original with the author.
Best Wishes,
llkl mas

This is the nelfS line clipping effect where the spectators can
actually read the lines as they are snipped off by the performer!
Please refer to sheet 1. Two newspaper columns are shown. One is
ungimmicked and marked "T" for Times. The other is Marked "N" for
the News and is gimmicked by having the bottom part of the column
UPSIDE DOWN a'ad rubber cemented back to the headline, "C".
The arrows at "D II point to the vital part of the tHo columns. This is
the sections that will remain after the rest of the columns are
snipped off. This is the section Hhich contain your predictions.
Predict the top three Hords of the News column, which is this case
are "The so-called", and the LAS'l' \vOliD 01<' THE FEL'::l'l 8~NTllliCE of the
News column lfbich is "abortions II.
For the Times column, predict the FIHS'r \;ORD OF THE LA::;T S.;.1{TANCS
which is "Last", and the last three Hords of the Times column which
are "a capturing it".
THE HANDLING: Show the tHO co Lunns separated. The "News II column is
held in the left hand with the first finger partially covering the
cemented section line and t he column I'ac Lng the audience. The "Times"
column is shoHn with the right hand in like manner. Next place the
News column behind the Times colw;ID and square them in preparation
with a pair of scissors. Snip off the headlines first of both
columns at the sa~e time. Inform the spectators that you are going
to cut lines from the top dovID. Ask someone on your right to read
off some of the lines before you cut them off. Next step back a bit
and continue cutting lines off. Ask some one to tell you when to stoP.
The columns a'l.vrays face the audience as you cut the lines.
Next, turn the col~s so that they face you as you hold them in
your left hand. The imes column is on toP. Place the Times column
under the News column. The News column is of course Upside DOHn.
So with your left hand point to the person holdin; :·our prediction
and tell him that you are not finished yet. During this gesture
you Hill find it easy to turn the colunms over so that the news column
Hill be right side up and facin::; the audience. This time start
snippinc; lines from the bottom up and alloH some one to read off
some of the lines. Time your actions so that most of the columns
,·Jill be snipped off. You should finish Hi th only b'lO pieces of
newsprint about one or two inches long each. Pass out the Times
section to some one on your right and the News section to someone
on your left and proceed to prove your predictions.

FInST HORDS: The so-called Last
LAST i-lORDS: abortions a capturing it
Please note that the "N" and the "T" should be marked on Hith a
red Grease pencil. An Lru{ Marker goes right through the paper and
shows on the opposite side which may ~ive the secret away.
The letter "N" for NevIS is reversible and should alHays be used.
Any other letter can be substituted f'or the "T" in case you do not
have a Times Paper in your hometown. The letter "S" f'or Sun is
also reversible.
P.S. Be sure to pick news columns that also have news lines on the
revesed side. This will prevent" a picture f'rom showing upside
down by accident, for example.
Your cormnents will be welcomed.

FIG. 8
Of all the clip line effects this one is by far superior in the
amount of information available to the operator. Credit goes to
.Jack Yates and his ori:~inal clip line effect that appeared in his
booklet "Hinds in Close-upll, for applyins mathematics to a line
of print. It is mathematics that mw{os this effect possible. The
principle used is old but when applied to a co.Lumn of' newepr-Lnf
as it is applied here the effect is tremendous and is limited
only by the ability of the performer.

SUPER CLIP LINE PLUS 9
CHALLENGE CLIP LINE III
Here we will do the Super Clip Line effect with
a single news column.
Refer to Fig. 9. It shows a column of print with
the headline. 'lith a red ink marker draw a wavy line on
the length of the column.
I~ you are handed a news column by someone, you
must excuse yourself while you write out your prediction.
Decide where you will cut off the headline. Fig.
9 shows dash lines at a good spot to cut off the top of
the colUIlm. So predict the first word o:f section "A"
which is "federal" and the last word of the paragraph
which is "week".
Also predict the last word of section "B" which is
"Democratic" and the first word of the paragraph which is
"While".
Fold the column in half with the red line mark in-
side as shown in Fig. 10. Cut the bottom o:f the :folded
column to make two separate pieces as in Fig. 11 •.
Start snipping lines of:f from the bottom up and
tell someone to stop you. Comment that you are doing it
in th~ blind so that no one knows where they will stop
you. nd also emphasize the fact that you are cutting
from the bottom up.
At this point, piece "B" is upside down. When you
:finish snipping lines from the bottom up, open up the two
pieces in book fashion and turn piece "B" over, leaving it
on top of piece "A". This is shown in ll'ig. 12 and 13.
The tHO pieces are now with the red line facing the
same way. Secretly turn the two columns over, end for end
as you gesture to the person holding the prediction cau-
tioning him not to read the prediction yet as you are not
through cutting lines off. Show the two columns so that
the spectators can read some of the lines :from "B" when
it is right side up.
Now state that you will snip lines off from the
top down and have some one stop you.
Bring the effect to it's conclusion as stated in
the original Super Clip Line instructions.
You may wish to secretly mark the two ends of the
column so that you can tell which is the top and which is
the bottom. If you keep' track of the two pieces you can
remember that piece "B' is the bottom and the other piece
is the original top and proceed to call for the correct
words as per your prediction. The "A" and "B" are not
marked on the columns.
