Andrew Jackson was born on March 15th in 1767 in either North or South Carolina.

He
was the sun of Irish immigrants. As a child, he received little schooling. The British invaded
Carolina killing his mother and brothers. This made Jackson resent Great Britain. Jackson
practiced law in his late teens. He moved to Tennessee and became an attorney. He was able to
start his own private practice there. He joined a convention to help start a new constitution for
Tennessee. He was elected to be in the House of Representatives. He later served as a general
for the War of 1812.
Jackson was popular because of his military success, so he decided to run for president. Jackson
makes the hall of shame for two things that he did during his presidency. His party opposed the
Bank of the United States. In 1832, Jackson had vetoed a bill calling for a renewal of the
Second Bank’s charter. He wanted to reduce the bank’s economic power. So on October
1, 1833 he took the federal funds from the bank. They would no longer be put into the
Bank. Jackson moved the money and put it into small pet banks.
This lands Jackson into the hall of shame because this dried up credit and led to
the Panic of 1837. Jackson is also in the hall of shame for participating in the relocation
of the Indians.
