After receiving my high school/college education I am planning to pursue a career as a civil engineer. Civil
engineering brings interest to me because it involves mathematics in which I am very passionate about. As a
civil engineer one is expected to ​design, build, supervise, operate, construct, and maintain infrastructure
projects and systems in the public and private sector. The average annual wage for civil engineers was
$86,640 in 2018. The job marketing is projected to increase 11% by 2026.

The type of education required to become a civil engineer is having at least a bachelor’s degree in civil
engineering. Some of the top institutions for the study of civil engineering are ​Massachusetts Institute of

workfield.

Job requirements and responsibilities:
● Bachelor degree in Structural Engineering/Civil Engineering
● At least 5 -10 years of relevant structural experience (residential, wood frame)
● Current PE California license and ideally SE California license
● Strong analytical skills with high focus on metrics and getting insights from data
● Drive towards knowledge and improvement and the desire to grow in your role and with the company.
● A passion for constant improvement - always looking to do things better (both personally, as part of a team and for the
company).
● Capable of prioritizing and allocating resources to / focus efficiently on multiple projects.
