“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world.”
- Nelson Mandela

As a product of Detroit, it has always been my goal to lead in the place where I
grew up and learned so much. It is an absolute necessity for me to be a role
model to scholars that look like me. Positively influencing the next generation
fuels my dedication to be an outstanding leader and educator.

I hold the following beliefs to be true about education for our scholars:
- Our Detroit scholars deserve a world-class education
- Academic excellence should be the standard for all children
- Great schools need to be equipped with great leaders
- Data drives great instruction
- Leaders and teachers must empower scholars to excel
- In order to be a great scholar, there must be the possession of great
character
- Establishing excellence in education here in Detroit will take a group
effort; education is everyone’s business
- Teachers, families and the community must work together to foster a
nurturing learning environment
- Effective communication is necessary to achieve all goals
- Scholars must assume responsibility for their own learning and academic
success
- Scholars should be educated in a safe, loving and rigorous environment

By fulfilling these beliefs and striving to lead in a way that communicates these
each day is what drives me to be an excellent leader for the children and
teachers that I serve. Education truly is a powerful weapon that can be used to
change the world.
