Description of Change

A new cylinder head capscrew has been released that incorporates a new coating material to prevent corrosion.
Reason for Change
This new part release is a product improvement to address broken cylinder head capscrews being witnessed on
QSK78 product.

Part Compatibility
New and old cylinder head capscrews are not able to be mixed on the same cylinder head.
New and old cylinder head capscrews can be mixed on the same engine at different cylinder head locations.
Part Identification
The new cylinder head capscrew will have “VIMI” stamped on the capscrew head. See Figure 1.
An interim batch of capscrews were released with “M” stamped on the capscrew head. See Figure 2.

Part Structure
The existing part number has been obsoleted and superseded by the new part number.
Part Reuse criteria
Part Number 4373000 should be discarded upon removal and not re-used upon repair or rebuild.
Part number 3640524 (Obsoleted part number as listed in Table 1) can be re-used, if it meets re-use criteria,
specified in Troubleshooting and Repair Manual bulletin number 3666727. Reference section 002-004.

All factory construction applications will be built using the new cylinder head capscrews. Power generation builds
will continue to use the existing cylinder head capscrew until stock has been depleted.
