It's been a long, but Pun fide. It was near Christmas 1001 when I noticed some
obscure series called "Angel Oensetsu" on Plylngrobots' translations site. I Found
passable Chinese raws Por it and despite the questionable art, I edited Pirst three
volumes Por my own pleasure over Christmas break at my parents' place. That speed
should tell one that I really liked it (trusting Flyingrobots to translate good stuFF
has been the way For me). When I got back I asked PtyinQrobots iP we could make
it a proper, public project and he agreed, the rest is now history. ;)

Over the years AO has proved to be our most attractive projet, logging 10-1SK
downloads on the website. Thanks to kotonoha (Uomac* 5eul) we also got proper HQ
'

raws Prom vol.8 onwards. In 200H I took a 6 months total break Prom all manga
related things to Plnish up my studies. During that time Star akin took f~
over the editing at vol. and since he was doing so good job with It,

I didn't have to spend my precious time with It anymore (besides

writing this).

Thus, thanks to everyone involved.

Angel Oensetsu was one oP the very Pew

titles that made me laugh. It was mysteriously
innocent and enjoyable.
However, switching Prom being a Pellow
reader to an editor in the last 1/3 oP the
story was a truly unique experience. I'd love

 To tell the truth, as long as people read the manga, there really isn't

a whole lot for me to go on about here.

Personalty, I'd be thankful if you saw this not as reading a manga

called "Angel Densetsu" that some guy drew, but as peering into the world
of Hekikuu Town, a sunny place with little rain, full of (illy people who
act out silly little events.

That's why 1 chose, to the best of my effort, not to discuss the actual
content of the manga in my author's comments on the cover flap;, or
hold character popularity polls, and things of that nature. (I don't have
a problem with such things being held in other places, I just can't Stand
the thought of the results of such a contest being allowed to color my
own depictions of the story.)

Based on you can imagine don't really have a whole

this attitude, I

lot to add here, but because ended up taking a lot of space to finish this

last book, I've got a few extra pages to work with, and I'd like to be able

to maybe wrap things up nicely, since it is the end and all.

think that if you agreed with the first thing; mentioned here, and
I I

want to preserve your view of the world of Angel Densetsu, you should
probably stop reading here. As the author and writer of this afterword,
I recommend it.
 Now. the first thingI'd like to touch upon is the characters. often I

get questions like, which character is your favorite? always answer I

"all of them." I realize that's a lame answer, and pointing out a specific
so-and-so would help spur more discussion about them, but it's the
honest truth.

I guess saying "if I didn't like them, they wouldn't be in the manga"
is a better way to put it.

Personally, the type of character that enjoy is the kind that will go I

wild and evolve on their own once I've created them.

Even if I draw someone that fits with my own personal ideals, if they
don't create action on their own. there's no use having them in the story.
Even the villain characters represent some facet of my own personality,
so this goes for them too.

In that way, all of the characters in this story are my favorites. From
the moment they were bom, they just ran wild all over the page. In fact,

in some cases they ignored my original plans for them and totally
changed the point of the story.

I realize this is hard to believe, but it's true.

 Out of all the many characters in this Story, if I had to choose one
ultimately crucial person aside from Kitano-kun, it would have to be
Kuroda Seikichi.

As I've mentioned several times in the author's comments. Angel

Densetsu started as a one-shot. At the time, was producing a whole I

batch of one-shots, and Angel Densetsu turned out to be one of them.

But I only had it halfway finished.

It was half-finished because I was totally stumped in the middle of

the Story, and since I Started with a premise and wrote on momentum,
once 1 got stuck 1 just stopped altogether. I couldn't do anything to get it

started again.

About the time gave up and started working on another plan,

that 1

my editor at the time expressed an interest in the Angel Densetsu idea,

and asked to see the half-finished draft. He loved what had up to that I

point, and told me to round it up into a full story, no matter how many
pages it took.

As was strictly bound to no more than 31 pages at the time, those

I

words loosened up all the stress in my shoulder, and proved to be the

motivation for me to sit down in front of the blank 14th page and
summon forth the character we know as Kuroda Seikichi.

After that point, it was easy as pie.

 The second half of the story, which had struggled with for days,
I

ended up being sketched out and finalized in a grand total of less than
two hours, and it even fit snugly within the 31-page limit.

It was just one instance of many where was forced to acknowledge

I

the mysterious difference that can be made between characters created by

the same person.

In fact, if you go back and read that one-shot (it's Chapter 1), you'll
easily recognize that Kftano-kun is the protagonist of the first half of the
story, while Kuroda clearly takes that position in the second half.

So you see, Kuroda, who

appears to be just a foil for the main
character, is in fact so crucial to the manga that were it not for him.
Angel Densetsu might never have existed.

Therefore, while he might not have appeared in every chapter and

played a crucial role in the story at large, Kuroda has always been the
"second protagonist" of Angel Densetsu to me.

Also, when started, figured the gig would last a year and

get two volumes out of it, if was lucky. How shocked would have been
I I

if I'd known at the time that it would eventually span a whole 15 books.

I'm sure that if you'd told me then, I'd ask what the hell I drew to get it

so long.
 .

In fact, the reason that Angel Densetsu —

which never felt totally in
I

control over from the —

word go lasted this long is because of Kitano-kun
and the many other characters within it. As said earlier, all the author
I

can really do is create his characters, and after that point, it's the
characters who create Angel Densetsu.

So no matter that the manga we call Angel Densetsu ends here —the
lives of the people of Hekikuu Town will continue on without us.

When you imagine what happens on the school field trip, what
happens when Kitano-kun visits a convenience store late at night, what
happens if bank robbers attack the bank when he's inside, and everything
else that will happen in our characters' lives, Hekikuu Town and its funny,
curious people are alive and evolving in your head.

Lastly, this story is dedicated to all the people who read this story and
loved this little world.
