PGROGRAM REPORT

1ST AND 2ND QUARTER PROGRAMME (‘YEAR OF READING CHALLENGE’ 2019).

LIBRARY

SUMMARY

The Year of Reading Challenge 2019 was a competition organized by the Obuasi Municipal Library(OML)
at Children’s Library of the OML on African Union Day, 28th May, 2019 in line with the “Year of Reading’’
theme declared by the Ghana Library Authority. All students from private and public schools were
eligible to participate.

Eighteen (18) out of twenty-three (23) registered students showed up for the competition. Seven (7) of
these students contested for the Junior High School (JHS) category and eleven (11) students contested
for the Upper Primary category. These students (aged 7-15 years) were from six (6) schools in the Obuasi
Municipality. The total attendance was fifty (50) including three (3) guardians and the rest were friends,
family members and observers.

Six (6) prizes were awarded for each of the first three emerging winners from the Junior High School
(JHS) and Upper Primary Categories. All participants, received a book and a certificate of participation
each while teachers and schools were awarded certificates of participation.
