The question of being against and for animal testing has been a highly debated topic in today’s society. The use of animals in flawed and harmful
experiments should no longer be in continuation. According to a well-informed animal-testing website, it has been stated: ​“​A major ethical issue
with animal testing is that it involves pain, suffering, and discomfort under some circumstances.”​ This can be displayed in the protest above, where
we see that people are trying to raise awareness to others by demonstrating what animals experience during their testing among other horrors. But
on the contrary, others think animal testing helped developed many medical breakthroughs and benefited the public by providing safe medicines
and products. In a 2016 Newsela article, it was expressed that ​“​While the decision was welcomed by animal rights groups, opponents said the
decision would have a negative impact on the development of critical vaccines and treatments.”​ The number of chimpanzees used in research
would decrease over the next years, but with these achievements comes with its downfall. They’re the closest animal related to humans, making the
results more accurate in the medical field. Although, technology is more improved and a large variety of alternative methods are now
available.This may include vitro testing, human-patient simulators, computer(silico) models ,human-on-a-chip, 3D cell cultures, etc.. Using it
would eliminate the utilization of chimpanzees or any other animals and no one gets hurt in the end.​ Animals shouldn’t be placed under this
long-lasting suffering, in which they endured for too long, and should be stopped.
