 One night, Jake the Knight
rode out on a steed with spots
In a far off land, a dragon on its right hind knee.
gave people such a fright. A flock of jays gave flight
The king sent Jake the Knight when they saw the knight
to find and slay the dragon. and his steed.

Jake saw a bright light “Do not take fright at the sight

His steed jumped up, “It might be from the dragon

“Kind knight,” he sighed,
“I am not wild. Jake the Knight felt sad for

“I will try to help you,”
Jake said.
“But you scare people.
What can we do about that?”

“I go down the winding road
from my cave,” said the dragon.
“I am not wild.

“I cannot see where I am.
“I do not mean to be a fright.”

“I will not mind if you stay
by your cave,” Jake said.
“I will put this bell on a tree
by your cave.
“It will ring in the breeze.”

“The bell will help you find
your way home,” Jake said.
“Then you will not come down
the hill and scare people.”

“You are a kind knight,” Jake the Knight rode back in
