The complete blood count or CBC test is used as a broad screening test to check for such
disorders as anemia, infection, and many other diseases.

URINALYSIS

The urinalysis is used as a screening and/or diagnostic tool because it can help detect substances
or cellular material in the urine associated with different metabolic and kidney disorders. It is
ordered widely and routinely to detect any abnormalities that require follow up.

POTASSIUM TEST

Potassium testing is frequently ordered, along with other electrolytes, as part of a routine
physical. It is used to detect concentrations that are too high (hyperkalemia) or too low
(hypokalemia).

SODIUM TEST

Used to detect abnormal concentrations of sodium, termed hyponatremia (low sodium) and
hypernatremia (high sodium). A doctor may order this test, along with other electrolytes, to
identify an electrolyte imbalance.

CHEST X-RAY (CHEST RADIOGRAPHY)

The chest x-ray is the most commonly performed diagnostic x-ray examination. A chest x-ray
makes images of the heart, lungs, airways, blood vessels and the bones of the spine and chest.

MEDICAL MANAGEMENT
I. Diet as tolerated (Strict aspiration precaution)

It is important that the patient receives good nutrition while getting treated; by eating
variety of healthy foods from all the food groups. The food groups include breads,
vegetables, fruits, milk and milk products, and protein (beans, eggs, poultry, meat and
fish). Eating healthy foods may help you feel better and have more energy.

II. Intravenous fluid

D5LR 1L 8° This fluid contains dextrose 5% in lactated Ringer's injection. Used as

water solution to avoid hypoglycemia.
Treatment for persons needing extra calories who cannot tolerate fluid
overload.
D5NSS 1L 8° It contains only electrolytes Na & Cl. Used to maintain fluid intake
and reestablish water volume because these fluids stays in the vascular
compartment, therefore, it expands the vascular volume.

III. Laboratory Tests

It is used as a broad screening test to check

CBC and Platelet for such disorders as anemia, infection, and
many other diseases.
It is used as a screening and/or diagnostic
tool because it can help detect substances or
cellular material in the urine associated with
Urinalysis
different metabolic and kidney disorders. It
is ordered widely and routinely to detect any
abnormalities that require follow up.
A sodium test checks how much sodium
(an electrolyte and a mineral) is in the blood.
Sodium is both an electrolyte and mineral. It
Sodium test
helps keep the water (the amount of fluid
inside and outside the body's cells) and
electrolyte balance of the body.
Potassium testing is frequently ordered,
along with other electrolytes, as part of a
Potassium test routine physical. It is used to detect
concentrations that are too high
(hyperkalemia) or too low (hypokalemia).
IV. Diagnostic test

Diagnostic x rays are useful in detecting

abnormalities within the body. They are a
painless, non-invasive way to help diagnose
X-ray
problems such as broken bones, tumors,
dental decay, and the presence of foreign
bodies.

V. Medication

Date Ordered Drugs Action

It is used to treat certain
infections caused by bacteria,
such as bronchitis; Cefuroxime
is in a class of medications
11/12/2011 Cefuroxime called cephalosporin antibiotics.
It works by stopping the growth
of bacteria. Antibiotics will not
work for colds, flu, or other viral
infections.
It is used to temporarily relieve
the symptoms of hay fever
(allergy to pollen, dust, or other
11/12/2011 Loratidine substances in the air) and other
allergies. These symptoms
include sneezing, runny nose,
and itchy eyes, nose, or throat.
It is commonly used for the
relief of fever, headaches, and
11/12/2011 paracetamol other minor aches and pains, and
is a major ingredient in
numerous cold and flu remedies.
It is used short-term to treat
heartburn caused by
gastroesophageal reflux in
11/13/11 metoclopromide
people who have used other
medications without relief of
symptoms.
It is used as short-term (5 days or
less) to treat moderate to severe
11/14/11 ketorolac
pain.
It is used to treat ulcers;
gastroesophageal reflux disease
(GERD), a condition in which
backward flow of acid from the
11/14/11 ranitidine stomach causes heartburn and
injury of the food pipe
(esophagus); and conditions
where the stomach produces too
much acid.
Is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It is
used to treat certain kinds
11/14/11 ceffriaxone of bacterial infections. It will not
work for colds, flu, or other viral
infections.
A nutritional supplement,
sodium ascorbate provides a less
acidic alternative to the more
11/14/11 Sodium ascorbate
common ascorbic acid. Besides
its use as a nutritional
supplement
