reminders learning focus

All incoming 7th graders should have
received the Summer packet for ELA prior to
the end of the school year.
The Summer packet for ELA will be due
during the first few days we return from
Summer break. It is very important that ALL
students complete this Summer packet as it
will be their very first grade for Trimester 1.
Students will also be assessed on the
Summer reading when they return in
September.
Why do I need to do the Summer work?
One primary reason we do Summer work is
to prevent “Summer Slide.” This is the loss of
skills you learned the previous year during
the Summer. Completing a little Summer
work will help your brain hold onto
information learned in 6th grade ELA.
● This Summer assignment has been
designed to give me data on different
areas of Language Arts instruction.

If anyone needs help with their Summer ● In grading each students’ packet I will

We are going to have an exciting year this year! THe best what that I can help you grow as a
learner is to complete the Summer reading. Summer reading will help me learn a little bit
about who you are as a reader and a writer.
