INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION
An organisation is an entity comprising multiple people, such as an institution or an
association that has a collective goal and is linked to an external environment. Organisation
refers to a social unit of people that is structured and managed to meet a need or to pursue
collective goals. All organisations have a management structure that determines relationship
between the different activities and the members and subordinates and assigns roles,
responsibilities, and authority to carry out different tasks. Organisations are open systems that
affect and are affected by their environment.

Organisation study is the examination of how individuals construct organisational


structure, process and practises and how there, in turn, shape social relation& create institution
that ultimately influence people. Organizational studies are an interdisciplinary course of study
focusing on administrative, economic, political, psychological and sociological factors that
affect cooperative human systems. Organization study is the systematic study and careful
application of knowledge about how people as individuals and as groups act within the
organization. It shows the different departments in an organization work and wins as a single
unit and the organization structure is very important for its proper functioning and growth.
Organisation study comprise different aspects of the organisation. Whenever people interact in
the organisation, many factors come into play. Modern organisation studies attempt to
understand and model these factors.

The study was carried out at O/E/N India Ltd Vettickal, is a market leader in electro
mechanical components like relays, switches, firmer, potentiometer etc. facilities are located
in the suburbs of Cochin, Bangalore, and Pune with 20000 sq. ft. Factory space. Its products
find application in communication, automotive, strategic industrial control, consumer
electronics etc..

During my study at O/E/N India Ltd Vettickal, helps to familiarize the functions of an
organization and helps me to analyse the industry and the corporate strategy employed by the
organisation and to understand the organizational framework and its functioning. It gave me
an opportunity to observe, learn, assimilate and analyse the objectives and vision of the
organization and functioning of its various departments. This study also helps me to understand
the different policies adapted to success the long term goal of the company.

1.2 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
✓ To give familiarize with the business organisation.

✓ To study the functions, duties, and responsibilities of each departments of O/E/N India
Ltd Vettickal
✓ To study the future plans of O/E/N India Ltd Vettickal.
✓ To study overall performance of the organisation.
✓ To know the production process of the organization.
✓ To identify strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats of organisation.

1.3 LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY


✓ Busy work schedule.
✓ The organization has some limitations in revealing all the details of the firm.
✓ Time span of the project was very limited to collect all the information.
✓ The company has the limitation to disclose their financial details, so a detail analysis of
financial performance of the company is not possible.

1.4 SOURCES OF DATA COLLECTION


The success of a research depends largely on methodology used. The appropriate
methodology will improve the validity of the findings. The following methodologies were
adopted for the study.

The organizational study at Primus Gloves Private Ltd is descriptive in nature. The
study is conducted mainly to familiarize with the activities, processes, policies, programs, and
procedures followed in the firm. For the purpose of the study data were collected from the
primary and secondary sources. Both the primary and secondary data is collected from
organisation.

PRIMARY SOURCES: include direct observation, interaction with the staff of the
organisation and interviews.

SECONDARY SOURCES: mainly include information from the company website and also
from company records, periodicals, annual reports etc.

1.5 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This organization study was carried out at O/E/N India Ltd Vettickal with an attempt
to understand the functioning of all departments and the work culture of the organization. This
report is mainly on the organization practices adopted in O/E/N India Ltd Vettickal and to
understand the current practices and make suggestions for its improvement. It also gives the
SWOT analysis of the organization. The theoretical scope of the study was aimed at covering
the functional departments of the organization.

Consumer electronics play a crucial role in the modern world. Today people around us
are more often associated with electronic equipment’s in their daily life. Most of the day to day
usage products like household items, devices for entertainments, medical equipment’s,
defence, safety, security systems etc.., are all included in the electronic industry.

Our country has reached a position of developing nation or been a part of other country
welfare due to the tremendous growth in the consumer electronics thus the role of the consumer
electronics in the field all over the nation or world is tremendously high.

It plays a vital role in the life of the people consumer electronics in the Indian electronic
industry accounts of 40% electronics hardware products and with the Indian electronic
companies going the manufacturing base is on a steady rise. Electronic industry is currently
worth $10 billion but according to estimates has the potential to reach $60 billion by 2015.

Global scenario

The science and engineering of electronics are less than 100 years old. Developments
in electronics have been very fast, particularly over the past three decades and the industrial
and commercial applications have fortunately kept place with their developments. Global
communications of information, digital computers, data processing at incredible speed, robots,
controls of machines, process and energy etc. are all gifts of electronics.

Indian scenario

Numerous issues confront the Indian electronics industry at the threshold of the new
millennium. Dentine of this, the electronic industry grew remarkably over the last decade and
half.

In terms of potential India is the second largest market for electronics in the world.
Taking the entire market, consumer electronics holds about 40% share and the rest 60% with
electronic hardware production. In Indian scenario upto 1980s the electronic industry had
grown around three major centres namely Mumbai, Pune and Delhi. Now the trend is that south
Indian cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai seems to be rising past north Indian
regions in struggle to become next power house country. The principal strength is south India
for the growth of electronic industry is the abundant availability of skilled and technically

qualified manpower, government interest in this area, supporting work culture, scope for
international trade etc.

State scenario

In electronic industry when o/e/n takes state wise contributions, Karnataka occupies
first space and Kerala comes to the sixth place. From this the role played by the Kerala in
electronic market is not bad.

The prime reasons are, Kerala has a good marketing base, good trading centre, free
environment, notified industrial estate, state government derived in their field and moreover
good place for import and export.

Future of electronics

The area of electronics is expanding at the rapid pace and electronic equipment’s have
become indispensable to 50 modern living. Growth in electronics has been phenomenal and
these in turn have changed lifestyle of people. The case precision, sophistication and flexibility
provided by the electronics in all kinds of modern system such as communication, computer,
control, automation and entertainment has made it very important subject of study for engineers
of all specifications. The world of electronics is now going through digital revolutions.

The company has formed a foundation on behalf of its founder MD Mr K A Mathew,

highest marks. The foundation also gives preferences for maintenance charge for selected
educational institutions. Company provides job to the local youth. The company plays

Every project work is based on certain methodology, which is a way to systematically solve
the problem or attain its objectives. It is a very important guideline and lead to completion of
any project work through observation, data collection and data analysis.

According to Clifford Woody, “Research Methodology comprises of defining and redefining


problems, collecting, organising and evaluating data, making deductions and researching to
conclusions”’

4.1 Research Design

The study was designed to perform a descriptive analysis of occupational health and safety
among employees in O/E/N India Pvt Ltd, Vettickal. This study was conducted over a period
of two months from April 2018 to May 2018.

4.2 Sources of Data Collection

To determine the appropriate data for research mainly two kinds of data was collected, namely
primary and secondary data as explained below:

1) Primary data

Primary data are those, which were collected for the first time and thus happen to be original
in character.

The primary data is collected from the questionnaire. It had questions of both multiple choice
and closed end type.

2) Secondary data

Secondary data consist of information that have already exists somewhere and which have been
collected by someone. The secondary data used for this study is from internet, books, journals,
websites…

Population : workers of O/E/N India Ltd Is 1500

The method used to collect data is questionnaire method. Questionnaire is a collection of


questions which is prepared in the research, for collecting opinion and suggestions from the
respondents.
