Packing list for individuals

Money for dinner on the road on the way there and again on the way back. Wear your class A to the
church when we leave.

Water bottle (Nalgene are best as they can be strapped onto a backpack)
Mess kit
Life straw (optional - we will have a group water filter)
Backpack (soft) or Duluth pack (or rent one)
Sleeping bag
Flashlight or headlamp
Compass, pocket knife or multi-tool
2 trash bags – put clothes inside one trash bag in your backpack in case you tip or it rains. If you have a
dry bag that’s even better.
Paddling gloves so you don’t get blisters. You can just get work gloves from Menards
Camp shoes
Water shoes or tevas
Socks – 3 pair that wick away moisture – not cotton
Underwear – 3 pair
Shorts – 2 pair one can be your uniform pants
t-shirts – 2-3 one should be your class B
long sleeve synthetic quick dry shirts - 2
fleece jacket or pullover
Warm synthetic long pants (like your class b uniform pants)
Swim suit
Mosquito spray (deet) bugs can be very bad. Mosquito netting. Mosquito head cover if you have it
Suntan lotion, lip balm with sunscreen
Raingear
Hat, sunglasses
Small towel
Personal hygiene items (use a biodegradeable soap like dr bonners)
Book, playing cards
Small toilet paper, small hand sanitizer
If you have room
Fishing gear – (only if you can still carry everything at once)
Camp chair (only if you can still carry everything at once)

Raingear with Waterproof pants a must – we have to paddle even if it’s down pouring. You can get
“frog togs” from Walmart online. My son is 5’ 4” and an adult small is a little big on him. Your uniform
pants are not water proof.
Water shoes or Tevas a must. The Kevlar canoes we rent are very light but delicate. They cannot touch
the ground while moving. So you’ll need to get out of the canoe in the water before we hit the shore
and carry it up without letting it drag.
Biodegradable soap – you can get a small “dr bonners” from target. It’s mint and you can also use it for
toothpaste.
Gloves – paddling gloves or just some work gloves from Menards – as long as they are relatively tight
fitting with Velcro. Otherwise you’ll get blisters
