MY FATE

The court rose at the end of the pronouncement of a sentence to death by hanging from justice Oputa
on Muritala over a three count charge for murder, impersonation and unnatural offences. The court
witnessed sobbing and calmness as family and friends were still trying to proof his innocence however
the judgement has been pronounced.

Muritala was been dragged by the police to the scene where he will be hanged, on his way he met an
old classmate who is now a barrister and surprisingly he asked what went wrong?

“It all started on 5TH of May at the wedding of Rita and Simon. When this guy walked in laying claims to
my baby which was given birth to a week before the wedding he stated his point vehemently that the
baby was his and my wife can testify to it. My wife had complications with her delivery and was still in
intensive care hence there was no need to disturb her I told him to check back in a week leaving him
with my house address.

he came by as planned on a Friday, my wife went for post natal with the baby, I offered him a drink
which he declined saying he wanted his baby, I made him understand that the baby is with the mother
at the hospital where she put to bed hence he should be patient shortly after my wife called that the cue
in the hospital is long and she will not be coming till evening. I informed him and he opted to leave with
a threat that the baby gets to him before he returns back from Abeokuta in 4 months he dropped an
address as to which the baby will be dropped.

I became muddy as to whether to confront my wife with the issue or not as funny as it may seem I did
not even bother to ask of his name ever since we started conversing so what was I going to ask her I
thought I concluded in my mind to confirm the paternity of the child but in a mild way. After my dinner
and the baby’s retirement to sleep, I carefully asked my wife if she was having an extra marital affair and
she got so angry saying all sort about my trust for her I let sleeping dogs lie when I got to discover that
the whole saga was turning to something else.

Months later, I received a court order charging me for impersonation, murder and unnatural offences I
wonder were all these things were coming from I informed my lawyer about it immediately. On the first
day of hearing I appeared in court with my lawyer and saw that the Gbenga who was suing me was the
man laying claims to my baby the first hearing was adjourned to a later date for a final judgement.

Due to my heart disease I could not bear all these anymore and wanted to settle the case amicably
which led me into inviting Gbenga to my house all the while my wife has been with her mum for safe
keeping. Gbenga came with something I did not expect he came in with thugs and made me sign a paper
I did not read he also placed me in the midst of some herbal settings and took snap shots he went ahead
to edit those pictures and duplicate my signature on so many things that I knew nothing about and that
was how I got here”s

What an unfortunate situation but we can place an appeal replied the barrister. It’s too late my wife and
my baby is coming to bade me farewell already. Shortly after at the scene my wife came on the sight of
Gbenga she began to sob saying she knows nothing about this man and had never seen him all her life.
When persons asked Gbenga if he knew her he was startled and said she looked like the girl he had sex
with that he is sorry.
