Emotional Intelligence refers to the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions, as well 
as the emotions of others. It is the ability to identify and name one’s own emotions, the ability 
to harness those emotions and apply them to tasks such as thinking problems.

Self Awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, 
including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, 
and emotions. Self Awareness allows you to understand other 
people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your 
responses to them in the moment. 
 

Self-Regulation  Key points 


Self-Regulation, which is like an ongoing inner conversation, is 
the component of emotional intelligence that frees us from 
being prisoners of our feelings. Even when feeling negative 
emotional impulses, having a high level of Self-Regulation 
allows people to find ways to control their emotions and even 
channel them in useful ways. Jugement becomes suspended 
because one thinks before acting.  
 

Motivation  Key Points  


Motivation is the drive for one to achieve beyond the 
expectations they hold for themself and others for soley the 
sake of achieving. Those who are motivated are not influenced 
by external rewards which is why such a person is said to be 
passionate. These people seek out creative challenges, love to 
learn, and take great pride in a job well-done, all with an 
undoubtedly large amount of energy.  
 

Empathy  Key Points 


Empathy is the most easily recognized. It is the ability to 
understand and reflect on the emotional makeup of others 
with the presence of other factors. Empathy is particularly 
important today as a component of leadership for at least three 
reasons: the increasing use of teams; the rapid pace of 
globalization; and the growing need to retain talent  
 

Social Skills  Key Points 


Social Skills concern a person’s ability to manage relationships 
with others and build networks. It is said to be friendliness with 
a purpose as they are as those with a high level of such skill 
have the ability to find a common ground and build rapport.
