Lasting Airport Travel Effects of 9/11

Have you ever been to an airport? If
you have, you know there is a lot of
security and it can get annoying waiting.
Although it can be annoying waiting on
long lines, security is very important. If
you were alive on September 11, 2001, you
know there was a terrorist attack on four
major U.S. landmarks. They were possible
because they snuck in weapons into the
airport past security and hijacked the
planes and crashed them into the four
major landmarks. If we had higher security
we could have found the weapons and
prevented the most devastating attack in
the United States of America. When the
president found out that they snuck in the
weapons he sprung right into action
making the airport top tier security. They
made so much changes to the airports all
around the world.

Changes to airport security
When September 11th hit the President,
George W. Bush, made huge changes to the
airports.Before 9/11 People used to be able to
stroll through a metal detector easily, but
after 9\11 now you have to do a shoe removal
at checkpoints,always have to your id all
baggage must be screened no, liquids larger
than 3.4 ounces, most travelers must remove
toiletries and laptops from bags, most
travellers have to remove jackets during
screening. Even after all of that, sometimes
there is extra screening and only ticketed
travelers are allowed at gate and that no
weapons are allowed on any flight and they
have made a watch list and a no flight list also
there are no blades example knife scissors
box cutter also there can be no water bottles
taken on any flight.

Precautions Taken on Airplanes
After September 11 the plains have been
changed tremendously. Some of the ways
the plains have changed is all the cockpit
doors have been sealed and looked off and
been made bullet proof they have been made
to stand from a hand grenade. All licensed
pilots have been given glock 17 in a box
within the cockpit of there reach. There has
been more marshals placed on the airplane
and they have been trained in situation in a
hijacking and also the pilots have been given
the training for that situation. Also in the
cockpit there is a passcode that can unlock
the cockpit door and the pilots can actually
shut the passcode box down.

To Carry-On or Not
Carry on’s are just like security, annoying
but very important. You can only bring certain
stuff on a carry on. Some stuff that is not
allowed include bottles holding liquids larger
than 3.4 ounces or 100 ml, sharp objects such
as knives, box cutters, nail clippers, and
scissors if you want to pack those items you
must pack it in your checked luggage. There is
also no sporting equipment allowed to be
brought on any flight. It may seem very obvious
but guns are also not allowed on any flight,
neither is gunpowder allowed to be checked
luggage. Tools are not allowed either, but not
all are prohibited in carry on luggage. Lighters,
matches, and other flammable items are not
allowed on any flight but also a lot of things
carried on items like bottles smaller than 3.4
ounces, knitting needles, cooked meat, and nail
polish. You are also allowed to bring e
cigarettes or vaping devices and clothes.
The Take Off
Just remember when you go into an airport
and next time when your waiting in a long line or
getting patted down or get your luggage checked
always remember they did this for your safety!
