RBI GRADE B PHASE 2 PREPARATION

1. ESI
a. Most of the questions asked are either basis conceptual ones or current affairs based
b. Concepts can be done by following any basic book which is prescribed for upsc . if one has good enough
time , uma Kapila can be done too as it gives you comprehensive knowledge regarding our economy
c. Sources for economy
i. Uma Kapila
ii. Ramesh singh
iii. Sriram ias
iv. Indian economy by Sanjiv verma
v. Mrunal site
Anyone can be followed
d. While building up basics, one needs to follow newspaper daily
e. Prescribed newspapers are
i. Hindu
ii. Economic times
iii. Business standard
iv. Livemint
v. Business line
We would prescribe following atleast 2 business newspapers daily. Make notes from it . sample notes will be
shared in the end .
f. Since most of the questions in esi are from government schemes, past and present
i. Every major scheme has to be read (only major ones from the past )
ii. Can follow any document available in the market
iii. Allot a lot of time for the schemes
iv. Simultaneously diligently follow pib and keep an eye on every detail
v. This year we faced questions which were completely unknown till we saw question in the exam
vi. So read every major and minor scheme from recent months
g. No coaching institute covers all these and helps you in ESI . one will accept that they help in fm paper but
for ESI paper no selected candidate will say that one respective institute has helped him in gaining good
marks

2. FM
a. FINANCE
i. Read bharti Pathak or any other major finance book while simultaneously keeping syllabus paper
beside you . one shouldn’t go into detail . But read everything related to the syllabus
ii. Other theoretical questions can be done through current affairs . specially from daily finance
newspapers
iii. Make extensive use of Investopedia for numericals or basic concepts
iv. For concepts like time value of money, bonds , derivatives Investopedia is one of the best source to
be followed
v. There are multiple documents which can be accessed through google on concepts such as bonds
and derivates .
vi. Most of the coaching material is copied from such sources
vii. In short finance needs to be done with the help of bharti Pathak+ newspapers +
Investopedia/google for other concepts
viii. Accountsadda youtube channel can be done for numericals and even ncert 12th class book
b. Management
i. For management there are many wonderful sources which can be read directly
ii. And thus every coaching institute copied material from it and selling us at a very high price
iii. Managementstudyguide.com is one good source
iv. https://study.com/academy/course/principles-of-management-course.html
1. This is another excellent source. It provides very lucid explanation with videos .
2. Only disadvantage is one needs to access it using credit card details .they provide one
month free trial. Make use of it . I have accessed the site using 2 different IDS for 2
months. Read and re revised before the exam. Try to get hold of any credit card and access
it for free. Don’t worry it’s a very famous site and your card details will be protected
v. Coaching institutes provide in depth notes regarding everything . most of them copy pasted. And in
exam they ask only basic questions. So these materials are not only wasting our money but also our
time . they have unnecessarily included many theories and that made their notes very bulky.
vi. We will share last two year question papers. You can see how basic the questions are and they will
be the same because rbi specifically says in notification that management questions will be basic in
nature.
vii. Scribd.com can be used to get hold of mcqs on management. I will share that document too . so
practice can also be done
viii. Make extensive use of Wikipedia or any other good source for management. Management is
major subject and there are multiple sites providing resources for it . so please don’t rely on coaching
institutes for it .

3. There are always a few questions which cant be predicted. This year there were such questions in management paper. They
were industrial management questions. But in any major site for management all those will be provided. Since coaching
institutes restrict our knowledge, we tend to avoid them. But if one makes a habit to read from such sites you can be ready for
unexpected questions too.
