Stator Resistance

The resistance of the stator windings can be calculated using eq. () (Kamper, 1996).

The total conductor length in the active stator region can be calculated from the stator’s stack
length, lS the amount stator slots, ? and the amount of conductors per slot.

An estimated approach is used for the calculation of the end-winding conductor length. For a 4-pole
machine with a diameter, D, the end-winding of each pole phase group would cover a quarter of the
stator circumference and would therefore be defined as

D
le ( ppg ) 
4

Taking the second pole pair’s end-winding length into account, as well as the end-windings on the
stator’s opposite side, the total end-winding length per phase becomes

le ( ppg )  D

Multiplying eq.??? with m number of phases, the total length of the motor’s end-windings becomes

le  Dm  ??? mm

therefore This approach can be used for any amount of pole pairs and would still result in the same
equation an (eq. ???).

The ?mm conductor diameter has an area size of ??mm2
