Gwenda: I don’t suppose it’s hot or sunny at that time of day?
Jim: No, I like it best when it’s cloudy. It’s easier to run in
that kind of weather.

riding now. Perhaps I should …
Gwenda: So everything’s good with you?
Jim: Yes, but last week I fell over. I was listening to some
music on my headphones and didn’t hear someone
coming on a bike. I was crossing the bridge when it
happened. That still hurts.
Gwenda: Your back? Oh dear!
Jim: My shoulder, actually. That hit the ground first, I think.
But it should get better soon.
Gwenda: When’s the race?
Jim: In July … on the fourteenth. Then, I’ve got another
one in August.
Gwenda: Well, good luck.
Jim: Thanks! See you!

ACHIEVEMENT TEST 5
Chrissy: i, Pat. Can you record a programme for me? Our

recorder isn’t working.
Pat: Sure! Why can’t you watch it?
Chrissy: I’ve got to go shopping with my Gran. She wants to
buy a new dress and I’m going to help her choose!
Pat: OK! What’s the name of the programme?
Chrissy: It’s called ‘Activities’ – you know … different sports
and hobbies.
Pat: Alright. And when is it on TV?
Chrissy: Tomorrow afternoon. It’s a shame it’s not on in the
evening. Is that OK?
Pat: I think so. What time does it start?
Chrissy: It begins at three and ends at four so it’s on for one
hour.
Pat: And which channel?
Chrissy: It’s called ‘Prize’. Do you know it? It often shows
competitions. Last week they interviewed the winner
of the sailing race round Berry Island.
Pat: I know the one. What’s this programme about?
Chrissy: Dancing. They’re going to show people from all over
the world doing their thing! You should watch it too.
Pat: I’ll be too busy, I think. I have to finish my history
project.
Chrissy: Well, try! It’s going to help me with my music project,
and yours too, perhaps.
Chrissy: Sounds good. OK!
Pat: Great! Thanks a lot.
