A Narrative Report about the National Art Month Celebration

The generation Z is known to be outspoken, creative and techie. In social media, they can
convey their ideas, feelings and experiences as well as their problems. These types of
pupils/students are nowhere to be found in the hinterlands for most of them are living in an
isolated community without electrical power and internet access that is why in Julian Calibo
Memorial School, we empower our learners to express themselves through singing, dancing,
drawing, paper folding and drama because we believed that art is a universal form of
communication.

Incompliance with the National Arts Month Celebration, Julian Calibo Memorial School
conducted series of art activities that were participated by elementary pupils and high school
students.

Mr. Lyndon T. Saycon the teacher-in-charge of the school in his opening remarks
emphasized the significance of arts in our day to day living as well as the importance of
recognizing and developing the talents of the youth. The activities were organized by Mrs.
Manilyn Reyes and Carlito Tapis Jr. Elementary pupils were required to showcase their dancing
abilities like hiphop and interpretative dance while secondary students were to perform festival
and folk dances and sing local songs. Both level also provided a drawing exhibit and each work
were validated by the selected teachers whom also casted the winners. Each participants exerted
effort and showed eagerness and willingness in participating the activities.

The event was culminated by awarding of winners and ended with a closing remark
through Ms. Cheryl Barioga who wrapped up the event with a saying, “Art is the only way to run
away without leaving home”.

The values inculcated in the affair were creativity, cooperation, teamwork and discipline.
