Adolf Hitler : a Drug lord and a

Shakespearean character?

A century ago, one of the most powerful and notorious dictators had passed away.
Yes, I am talking of none other than the Nazi leader and the man responsible for the
World War II and the holocaust: Adolf Hitler. He was a fascistic evil tyrant who
managed to demonstrate how capable modern mankind is in destroying life and
creating hell on Earth.
After studying Hitler’s character, I have observed that he was similar to two famous
yet notorious people: Pablo Escobar and William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Here’s
how I find the Führer like them.
As horrible as he was, Hitler was very
charismatic and an amazing orator. When
he rose to power, he used the dissatisfaction
of the people over their economic problems
and anger over the loss of the great war to his
advantage. He convinced the people that
Jews where the ones to blame for all this loss
and claimed that they were the ones who
betrayed their country, causing the downfall
of Germany.

In this way, I feel that we can relate Hitler to Pablo

Escobar, the infamous drug lord. Shocked? Well
guess what, they are quite like each other. When
Pablo tried his way into politics, he had also
influenced the people of Medellin and other cities
by promising them that they would have a better
lifestyle and would abolish poverty and claimed
that the politicians of other political parties would
never develop their roads and would leave their
people helplessly. Escobar was also a brilliant
public speaker but unlike Hitler, he couldn’t be in
politics for long.

Now let’s investigate how similar Hitler was to Macbeth.

Both Macbeth and Hitler were good people before
they became tyrants. Boggled? Well, Macbeth in the
beginning of the play was originally a good, respectable
man, and a perfect solider. Macbeth is even described as
brave and a true gentleman by King Duncan.

1
Hitler was also of a similar status. Before Adolf
was characterized as a tyrant, he had a good
reputation as a political figure who only wanted
the best for his country. Like Macbeth he was a
respected member of his peers. During his rule,
Hitler thought that every German citizen should
have a car thus inventing "the people’s car" or
Volkswagen. He imposed anti-smoking/anti-
tobacco laws for the betterment of his people’s
health and ,it may seem like a surprise but, he was
a vegetarian as he believed that harming animals
was a cruel act! This proves that he had good
intentions and was not completely evil. But he is weird isn’t he? Maybe he wasn’t
smart enough to realize that humans were animals too.

Besides these two traits, Hitler, Macbeth and Escobar, all three popular men, share
few similar qualities. All three of these men were very ambitious. For Macbeth, it
was his ambition to become the king of Scotland. For Escobar, it was his desire and
ruthlessness that made him one of the wealthiest and most powerful drug lords. To
increase his power, Escobar had even developed partnership with many other drug
cartels even though the Medellin Cartel was the biggest at that time.

Hitler was ambitious because even after he took over all of Germany he still craved
power. He moved on to the western allied front and eastern Soviet front. What a
ruler!

Other than ambition, all three were

murderers. Not the kind that you see in
mystery movies. These guys killed
innocents, unjustly and without any
worthy cause. Somewhat similar to a Call
of Duty game! Macbeth killed the good
king Duncan, his two chamberlains,
Banquo, Lady Macduff and her children.
Macbeth at first refused to kill king
Duncan but after the slaughter, he kills
whomever he must, to get what he wants - the throne. He kills many innocent
people because he was afraid that they would threaten his rule. Hitler was like joker
from batman. He killed millions of the Jewish people during World War II. He
thought Jews were of a lesser race and deserved to die. He claimed that he was
cleansing the world but what he failed to see was that the Jews were people like
himself. His mass genocide of the innocent was a waste of life much like the murders
of Duncan, Banquo, and Lady Macduff. Pablo Escobar is another example. He too
was responsible for the death of thousands of people including politicians, civil
servants, journalists and other innocents. Escobar’s terror operation costed the lives
of three Colombian presidential candidates, an attorney general, many judges and
more than 1,000 police officers. Besides this, Escobar was implicated as the
mastermind behind the bombing of a Colombian jetliner in 1989 that killed more
than 100 people.

Throughout history, people have had different views on him and this is how I assess
Hitler. A prototype of Escobar and Macbeth. Now I leave it to you. Was he a good
person and could he be related to someone else too?
