The PCRF Functional Tester is a part of the diameter test tool suite.
The PCRF Functional Tester tests if an LTE Policy and Charging Rules
Function (PCRF) is implemented in compliance to 3GPP TS 29.210
(Gx interface), TS 29.214 (Rx Interface), TS 29.215 (S9 interface) and
other relevant Release 10 standards.
The components of a functional test suite are the Test Suite Structure
and Test Purposes (TSS & TP) document, the Abstract Test Suite that
includes the functional test scripts specified using Tcl and the Test
Platform on which the test scripts are executed.
The Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS & TP)
specification created by Polaris Networks for PCRF functional
testing, is based on 3GPP protocol specifications for the PCRF and
the surrounding network elements.
The PCRF Functional Tester emulates all the entities adjacent to
the PCRF, i.e. P-GW (PCEF), BBERF and AF. The tester then
creates the test conditions using all of the PCRF interfaces to test
the response of the PCRF. It tests the S7/Gx (PCRF- P-GW), Gxx
(PCRF-BBERF), Rx (PCRF-AF) and S9 (PCRF-PCRF) interfaces
of the PCRF.
