Reaction Paper: Ocean Acidification

The oceans around the world are really important to us. Oceans provides us
foods, oxygen and so many things that we probably do not care about at all because it
is abundant to us. There are so many thing happening to the oceans that benefited us.
It provide jobs for, houses marine ecology that we are truly fascinated of and moderate
the climate. With all this activities happening, we can potentially ruin the oceans that
always gives.
Aside from the trashes that are ending up in the oceans, there is also a problem
with our carbon dioxide emissions that is harming the oceans. For oceans absorbs
carbon dioxide emitted in the atmosphere. This great for us for this will lessen the
greenhouses gasses in the atmosphere, slowing down global warming and climate
change. But with to there’s no sign of slowing down carbon dioxide emission from us,
there will also be more carbon dioxide that the oceans will absorb. They say more is
bad and with these situation, it’s true.
With more carbon dioxide in the oceans, it’s changes by going through several
chemical reactions. Oceans change in Ph levels going down, which is bad for it is not
ideal to drastically change overtime at a fast rate. Low Ph levels means it is acidic so
what is happening to the oceans is Ocean acidification. But what will be the effect?
Constant ocean acidification is really harmful to the oceans. Mostly, to those who
our living in it. High ocean acidity can lead to extinction of many marine life forms. It’s is
sad that with the projections coming in, These possible extinction are getting near.
Some of them are small marine life that is necessary for they are foods to many more
marine life. And coral can dissolve if this ocean acidification continue to increase.
It is sad that we our activities are the cause of destruction in nature. And it is also
sad that we tend to just shrug the problem for we still don’t feel the effect of our doings.
We should be alarmed of the threats we have caused to our habitat. We should lessen
carbon emission to save this planet we call home.
