A. Gemma Loves Blue

Gemma loves blue is a Concert with a
cause. It was a concert with the mission to
help people with cancer. The show was
sponsored by the Asin Band who gratefully
accepted the project to be part of the main
event of the program. The concert was
open for the public and was spread through
posters and the likes. It was also introduced
to NSTP students and non NSTP students. The
show has also collaborated with other
schools and bands. The high school
department of the Saint Louis University also
participated in the program. The program started with the representatives of
different schools and colleges. The final performace was tge performance of
the Asin Band. Gemma loves Blue is a great program with a great cause. It
must have been better if there were more students who would appreciate this
type of event or program.

These programs must have been given more attention to as it has a great
mission. Students should have atleast tried to watch the program as it was such
a great and fun program and it is a great helo to other people. Imagine while
enjoying, you were heloing other people. It is such a good thing that program
like this exists. We must learn to be able to appreciate such things as it doesn't
just help the people but the whole community as well.

B. Talent Beyond Borders

Talent Beyond Borders and Body Fitness are
programs showcasing the talents of the NSTP
students as well as their fitness and healthy
lifestyles. It is done through to help them build
their talents as well as their confidence in
performing in front of a lot of people. There are a
lot of activities provided that encourages students
to participate not just for the grades but for them
to socialize as well. These programs do not only
help build and enhance the personality of the
participants but also the personalities of the
coordinators as well. These programs were a way for students to cooperate and
communicate for the success of these programs. This communication will be
the medium of the formation of a good relationship with other people.

The last TBB and BF was a huge success. Despite the mismatched in the
schedules of the students, they were able to make such programs. It was in the
effort of all people who coordinated and participated in the event that the
event was a great success. The participants and all the committee even the
audience had their faces painted with laughter and smiles during the program
which is a good evidence that the event was a success

II. Project name

 “Blood is Life”
III. Project term

 This project will take place in the month of February to March.

IV. Partner/linkages

 Red Cross and the NSTP Department are the partners of this project.
V. Project rationale

The NSTP Department in Saint Louis University conducts a semi-annual

blood donation that aims to help anyone, in case of any requirement for blood,
to end the concept of replacement donation by ensuring continuous supply of
blood through voluntary blood donation in blood banks. It became a part in the
tradition of almost every department in SLU.

Faculty, staff, and students are expected to partake in the said activity
but one of the dilemmas that the department encounters is that the decrease in
the number of participation due to lack of information about the event.

This project aims to increase the number of donors by posting

advertisements, giving pamphlets, etc. and written on it is the requirements and
benefits in donating blood. And for the possible donors to be encouraged to
donate blood more often, they will be given a keychain with their blood type on
it, snacks, and bookmark with quotes regarding volunteerism after they donate
blood. NSTP students will also be giving out fliers containing the information they
need to know about the benefits and requirements for them to be able to
donate blood.
Another proposed idea for gathering more volunteers is through making a
video clip that will be posted on the pages of SLU and other pages on
Facebook that will show awareness or an inspirational story that would inspire
the hearts of each and every individual to be a blood donor. These solutions
have a higher chance of increasing the number of donors since these ideas
came from Louisians, themselves.

VII. Objectives

 NSTP students seek to establish a strong strategic campaign to have a

relevant number of blood donations through giving freebies.
 To spread awareness to the students on how donating blood could be
beneficial for the blood recipient and the donor himself
 To have at least 400 blood bags
VIII. Specific outcome

a. Concrete Objective

 The concrete objective for this blood donation campaign is to surpass the
accumulated 200 bags from last semesters campaign.
b. Project Activity

 NSTP students will be handing out flyers containing the benefits and
qualifications in blood donation.
 After completing the blood donation, keychains will be handed over as a
token of appreciation for being able to help save lives that will also serve
as a reminder to them that they were part of the movement of this
campaign.
IX. Budget

 A portion collected from the TBB fund will be allotted for the production of
keychains.
 The keychain will cost Php 15.00 each. Considering the approximate
target on the number of blood donors, the estimated budget needed for
this project would be a total of Php 6,000.00 or less
Blood Donation Poster
D. Sample Live Campaign Script for Blood Donation
Student 1: Gusto mo ba makatulong?
ALL: Gusto sana, but we’re all broke college students.

Student 1: Paano pag sinabi kong yung tulong na ito, hindi kailangan ang
pag bukas ng inyong mga wallet?
Student 2: In this day and age, lahat ka-akibat ang pera!

Student 1: Diyan ka nagkakamali, kapatid! The most needed help that we

can provide is within us, literally!
ALL: Weh? Literal?
Student 1: Oo, literal! This April 8 to 13, there will be a blood donation drive in
our university.

Student 2: Ah! Blood donation, literal ngang within us ang maibibigay na

tulong.
Student 1: At hindi lang iba matutulungan mo, pati sarili mo mismo!
ALL: Ha???? Paano????
Student 1: Una, you’ll get a mini-medical.
Student 2: Mini-medical? Maliit ba yung mag me-medical sa amin kaya mini?
Student 1: Hindi, pero liliit din naman ang risk mo of heart disease and
cholesterol!

ALL: Tell us more!

Student 1: Every time you donate blood, you can help up to three or four
recipients. Imagine, isa ka lang tapos apat na natulungan mo? Plus, giving
blood can help your liver stay healthy.
Student 2: Ang problema, parang nakakatakot?
ALL: Nakakatakot talaga!
Student 1: Mga kapatid, it’s all in the mind! Speaking of, while there are
several physical benefits to donating blood, the most powerful health benefit
is arguably in the psychological realm. Donating blood means that someone
somewhere will be getting the help they desperately need. Hindi ba, iniisip
palang na may sobrang nangangailangan na matutulungan natin, ang
sarap na sa puso’t damdamin?
ALL: Ang sarap nga naman talagang tumulong!
Student 2: Saan ba gaganapin ang blood donation drive na yan?
Student 1: Sa April 8-12, sa covered court ng Main Campus. Sa April 13, sa
building naman ng SAMSCIS.
Student 2: So friends, game to help those in need?
ALL: Game! Louisiano tayo, tutulong tayo!

D. Activity for students: Talent Beyond Borders

I. PROJECT CLUSTER

The program "Talent beyond Borders'" main purpose is to showcase

amazing talents of Lousians. This program was not just intended for sole
entertainment of the viewers but "beyond" that, the profit from selling tickets
will proceed to a sick patient who is need of financial help.

II. PROJECT NAME

"Talent Beyond Borders: Louisians besides Acads"

III. PROJECT TERM

The Talent Beyond Border is a program where the students of NSTP- CWTS
are given the chance to showcase their talents. The program will be held on
8th and 9th day of April, 2019 at the Prince Bernhard Gym of Saint Louis
University at exactly 1:30 in the afternoon.

IV. PARTNERS AND LINKAGES

The program will happen with the help of the whole Louisian Community.
The supervising instructors, class staffs and students of NSTP- CWTS will lead
the said program.

V. PROJECT RATIONALE
Statement of the Problem
Talent Beyond Borders is a fundraising event that will not only
showcase the remarkable God-given talents of the students but also raise
awareness on the ability of students to help other people in need.
Unfortunately, not everyone is interested in watching or participating in the
said activity. The reasons are: it may take a bulk of their time for the day, it is
not for free viewing and lack of advertisement on social media. The success
of the event does not only rely on the very few planners but on the
collaboration of many talented, skilled, and willing people. Thus, it requires
everyone’s support and active response.
Mission

This project’s mission is to invite as many people to watch and enjoy

the Talent Beyond Borders. In addition, it will give all of the raised money to
the people who are in need of immediate medical attention.
Vision

The proponents envision a community who is always active and

compassionate towards people who are in need by promoting and
participating in these kind of events.

VI. GENERAL OUTCOMES

1) People will able to see the different talents of students and may help them
to also showcase their unique talents

2) We will be able to increase the funds and many people will benefit from
the activity
3) Become an inspiration to others to have the initiation in helping other
people through culminating activities

VII. OBJECTIVES

1) To have a well promoted showcase of the talent beyond borders

2) To encourage more people to showcase their hidden talents
3) To increase more funds for the beneficiaries.

other people prevail and every students may become the "Ambassadors of
Goodwill" to other people.

XV. Reflections

A. Individual Reflection

BOLOR, Jamie

Blood donation is a simple, four-step process: registration, medical history

and mini-physical, donation and refreshments. It is a safe process, and a sterile
needle is used only once for each donor and then discarded. We don’t have to
be afraid to donate blood. We must be willing to do so.

We don't need a special reason to give blood; you just need your own reason.
Some of us give blood because we were asked by a friend. Some know that a
family member or a friend might need blood someday. Some believe it is the
right thing we do. Whatever your reason, the need is constant and your
contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply. And you'll feel
good knowing you've helped change a life.
EDPALINA, Judee Mae

The point is: if we all gave blood and passed it on so that 3 more and 3
more and 3 more people could be saved each time someone gave blood, how
long would it take before the person who needs blood was in your family? How
long before it was you?

It’s really a big deal to receive blood, that’s why it’s a powerful experience to
donate blood. We can impact the lives of other generations by giving someone
another chance to live. Share your power, and give blood.

LACANLALE, Sarah Mae

During the nstp especially the duty for blood donation, I realized that this is
very important to the donor and to the one's who might need a bag of blood. It
is a form of saving the lives of other people.

LOPEZ, Kimberly

If you give blood, you could save the lives of 3 people. The first could be
someone far away who you’ve never met, and never will. The second person
could live in your town. He could have a rare blood disorder that causes him to
rely on blood donations, or he could die. The third person could be someone
you know, or maybe, it’s someone closer like your co-worker or classmate who
has never shared the fact that she was in a horrible car accident when she was
18; or the fact that only by the gift of blood is she here at all.

Think about it another way. If you give blood, it could save 3 lives, but if
you got 3 more people to give blood, they could save 9 lives; and if they each
got 3 people, they could save 27, and 27 becomes 81, 81 becomes 243, 729,
and so on.
BOADO, Krizzel

Commitment is one of the things that I learned from NSTP 2. To be

committed, one must know what his goals are and must embody these goals.
Embodying your goals will give you the will to achieve these goals. If you are
committed in accomplishing your goals then you are willing to sacrifice anything
because you know that these sacrifices will all be worth it once you are done
with the task. The activities in NSTP 2 may be hard but because of the
commitment in helping others, we were able to accomplish the tasks that were
given to us. If we are committed in everything that we do, a task will always
seem possible because anything will be achievable if you put your time, effort
and heart into it.

CORREA, Joanna

This course or subject helped me to also think of what can I do for other
people especially those who are in need. It reminds me that I am a citizen of this
community and I should do something for my growth as a good citizen. I should
be aware of the problems surrounds me and how these problems affects the
whole community and what can I do as a citizen. Thank you for everything

DE MESA, Nica Johanna

The NSTP CWTS 2 Program made me realize that sometimes we do ignore

simple actions, actions which we think are nothing but in reality can create a
big difference. I've learned a lot with the programs and activities NSTP CWTS
facilitated. In this program, one must have the initiative and willingness to help. I
totally agree with the quotation "Volunteers are not paid--- not because they're
worthless, but because they are priceless." We must appreciate more the act of
“volunteerism”, we may become a hero to some. If you know you can do
something for others, do not hesitate, lend a hand and I know God will bless you
even more.

MACARANAS, Rosalinda

The NSTP 2 subject have been difficult and time demanding but in the
end, I realized how it made me better with budgeting my time as a student and
as a responsible citizen. Before, Sundays were just days of waking up late but
because NSTP was held on Sundays, it’s automatic that I wake up early and
sleep early at night. The point is it made me ready with early schedules on
weekdays and certainly, no excuses for not attending masses. Therefore, rather
complaining with 7 days of classes in a week, I’m grateful with SLU and NSTP for it
made me ready with the hard work in the real world.

ONRUBIA, Gezelle

My small actions here in NSTP can make a big difference. Taking this
subject is fun and also informative as well. To be honest, it was indeed my first
time doing this kind of tasks. But honestly it is a life changing experience wherein
I've learned a lot of things that i can apply in my life.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our instructor Ma'am

Charmaine Mendoza for giving us an opportunity to experience taking this
course were we developed our abilities, personalities, self-awareness and etc.
I'm very proud that I'm one of the students who experienced it all, even after we
sacrificed our weekends to fill our time for this course for the whole semester. But
to tell you this, i can say with pride that it is worth it. Because in taking this course,
I've been taught to be a responsible individual and adult at the same time. We
can contribute to develop our nation by doing simple things, because i believe
that big things came from small things or simple things we've done.

ROSAS, Jules Princess

In this NSTP II, I learned so many things. Like on how to handle and stand
up with determination on your responsibilities. It's an honor for me to test my
strengths being one of the “Shalliack”, the ambassador of goodwill. The NSTP II
encouraged us to be more responsible in helping each other. Nothing else but
to give care and love.

ROSENDO, Rocel

As a part of the curriculum, we, students are required to enroll in the NSTP
(National Service Training Program) of the government to help build good
citizens not just in our own country but as a good citizen of the world. There
were a lot of programs, such as blood donations and the like, that were
designed for us students to enhance our abilities to be of help in other people.
We were tested by our patience and perseverance to do the tasks that were
assigned to us.

People must learn how to be of used to other people or how to be in

service for other people. That is why NSTP has programs to teach young
students who were the future of this country to be good citizens. There were a lot
of programs that NSTP was offering which cover most of the values of a true
citizen. Programs like Blood Donations, Concert for a Cause, Tree planting are
examples of the many programs that NSTP offers. These programs strengthened
our virtues as Louisians and as a citizen. The virtue of love, justice and peace
can be seen in programs like blood donations and concert for a cause. We
students were taught that the little things that we do is actually a big help to
other people. The virtue of being co-stewards of God's creation was seen in
students who were helping in maintaining the cleanliness of the school by doing
extra work in cleaning. And there is also the virtue of volunteerism, which the
NSTP program would like to develop the most. We students must learn the true
essence of volunteerism, that we don't do things just to expect for something in
return. We must learn that volunteerism is doing something with your heart. It is
not doing something because you need to but because you want to. There
were also fora that were done by the NSTP such as the first aid fora and the
voters education fora. NSTP also celebrated Piyestang Pinoy which shows the
rich culture of the Philippines.

NSTP must not be seen as a mere requirement for students to graduate.

NSTP was there to help you and mold you to become a better person. The
experience you will get in serving other people will one day help you in the
course you're taking now. The most important thing here was not to get a high
grade from your professor but to get a good look of what's the world outside
you. Grades would one day loose its value but what you have done to other
people will remain forever.

SANTIAGO, Jerrylvee

I've learned many things from nstp and it served as an eye opener. Having
an exposure was truly a tiring task however, the feeling of happiness, fulfillment
and achievement after the exposure was unexplainable especially when you
see the happy faces of your foster family with regards to the values that i've
learned in the exposure, i've learned how to be productive and punctual. I've
also learned that i should exercise my patience dealing with the people in the
community.

SORIANO, John Marl

I've learned many things in NSTP II like, how to be of used to other people
or how to be in service for other people. Helping others is like being aware of
your surroundings and think of what can you do for other people especially
those who are in need. Helping others is a small gift that you can give and the
smile on their faces is the price that you received.

SUAREZ, Celeste

We have been to many task and encountered challenges in our journey

in NSTP 2. In all honesty, I still find some activities or requirements difficult
because of the time and energy that it demands. Despite all of this, I have
learned to be attentive and obedient in following instructions. By not doing so,
there are consequences that you will face later on. Moreover, I learned to be
diligent and respectful to others. Camaraderie and Volunteerism were the main
values that enveloped all of the students of NSTP 2 in making events successful.
The beauty in accomplishing tasks is when you put your heart into it. When
you only do it for compliance, it will be really tiresome. But when you do your
best and learn to embrace it, you will enjoy the process. The first notable event
that we did was the Panagbenga 2019 ‘Blooming Forward’. Serving as a crowd
control is not an easy task but we learned the art of service and compassion
towards others. Furthermore, promoting and advertising Blood Donation is a
heartwarming experience because we know this simple act of volunteerism we
can help save more lives.

TABDI, Adrian

This semester, NSTP has provided a lot of activities to enrich our social and
cultural beings. We went to multiple forums and learned a lit frim them. We
learned abiur basic life support and other things we should be aware of about
our health. This semester I was invoved in documenting all the soecial events.
Tge exoerience was very tiresome but was very rewarding once you see the
final outcome. I met new people and challenged myself do edit a lot of videos
for NSTP. I have learned a lot in NSTP in ways unlike the classroom set up. It was
all through experience which I think is the best way to learn. Being part of the Hi
documentation team made me realize how difficult it is to document but also
made me look at things in new perspectives and to see what was happening
behind the scenes. I hope that the future NSTP programs would be more
succesful so that each student would be more aware about health, patriotism
and culture.

TADA, Joyce

To be honest NSTP II was very challenging subject for me, because we're
required to attend so many thing in this subject even though we don't have
really enough time because of our hectic schedules. But I'm still glad that i have
my teams, we are tasked to documents every events of this subjects. I enjoyed
being with them, and i also learned a lot of things to them. It gave me an
opportunity to help and serve to this subject and to my team.

Since i already have knowledge about this subject because i already take
the NSTP 1, but still this particular course is unpredictable. But i can say that i
enjoyed this course because it was more than just academic.

VEA, Christine Mae

NSTP-CWTS 2 during this semester was quite challenging and full of tasks.
Challenging because I am not really a forbearing person and I’m not that good
when it comes to dealing with people in the community. Full of tasks because
there were lot of things to do and accomplish that made me tire every
Sunday(Well there are consultation hours). On the contrary from what I had
expected, it gave me fun and bit of excitement throughout. I’m very proud that
I’m one of the students who experienced this sorts of moments.
B. General Reflection

School year 2018-2019 under the National Service Training Program- Civic
Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS), institute of Saint Louis University (SLU), was
full of activities for Louisians all throughout the semester outside and inside
school campus. These activities include fora on basic life support training,
importance of culture through “Pistang Pinoy”, voter’s education, blood
donation, the Panagbenga festival as marshals, and the “Talent beyond Borders
and Body Fitness” show. These events are made possible with the teamwork of
NSTP 1 and NSTP 2 students, together with the staffs and coordinators working
their best to make the most out of 5 short months of time.

The fora held these past months of April and May were: (1) “Basic Life
Support Training”, wherein each code perform specific activities on how to
conduct first-aid to help or prolong the life of injured people in case of
emergency until professional help arrives; (2) “Pistang Pinoy” forum with its
primary vision to emphasize the necessity of knowing and practicing our own
culture and tradition so that next generation will understand the values of a real
Filipino and its roots; and (3) the voter’s education on how to be responsible in
choosing and voting for national and local candidates of 2019 election for the
better future of the Philippine nation.

Beyond school grounds, SLU specifically NSTP participates again in the

annual Panagbenga parade, with the students who served as marshals and
instructors who facilitate the flow of the activity involving the students. Another
successful event was the mass blood donation with volunteer donors coming
from NSTP and non-NSTP students of SLU, and citizens of Benguet province.
Consecutively, the “Talent beyond Borders and Body Fitness” show was
conducted to raise funds by selling tickets in order to help SLU foundations,
which include remote schools in need of books and decent chairs, and sick
patients who need financial assistance for continuous medication.

The NSTP aside from being required by the Philippine constitution, should
not be seen as a mere obligation or requirement for young Filipinos on tertiary
level. Rather NSTP, with its focus on “volunteerism” should be taken as part of
being a responsible citizen, a Louisian who embodies “competence, creativity,
social involvement, and Christian spirit” as his or her core values.
