BARRANCO

Traditional and Bohemian, Culture and Charm.

Barranco has been an attractive Summer resort for middle and upper
class residents of Lima and foreigners in general, many of whom built
large houses in European styles. This district is known for its
bohemian character, culture and as the home of famous Peruvian
writers and composers, such as José Maria Eguren, Martin Adam and
Chabuca Granda.

An obligatory destination is the Bridge of Sighs, known internationally

thanks to the song “La Flor de la Canela” written by Chabuca Granda.
It was built in 1876 to join Ayacucho and La Ermita streets. More than
thirty meters long and approximately three meters wide, it has
always been a place for lovers.

There are numerous restaurants in which you can sample the varied
gastronomy of Peru. There are also traditional bohemian bars, pubs
and discos.

I highly recommend to visit Barranco because it is a place in which

you will feel the so-called “magic of Barranco”.
