Factory-Built Houses

Skilled construction labor is in increasingly short supply, fewer students are learning building

trades, and those that do, prefer to work in more comfortable conditions, such as a factory. Time

is another advantage in promoting prefab construction: People want their houses to be completed

faster. Prefab houses can generally be built much faster than site-built ones. With more and more

people researching construction options online, they are opting for more sustainable and energy-

efficient options. Computer-generated machinery available for the last several years, in many

prefab factories, builds components straighter and with less waste than when cut in the field.

Insulation can more efficiently be used in the factory. As an example, in a modular factory, where

houses are built from the inside out, insulation can be more easily packed in around outlets and

other openings, as well as in ceilings. In addition, building in a controlled environment, there is

less chance of exposure to the elements – rain, snow, extreme heat and freezing.

Factory-built houses is cost-efficient, energy saving and versatile type of houses for a small family.

It is also easy to build with all the machine in the factory. In the factory, workers welds the steel

pieces that makes the undercarriage chassis. Its length depends on the demands of the customer.

Then the workers moved the completed undercarriage chassis to the next part of the factory. They

pull a layer of polyethylene over the length of the chassis and roll a blanket of fiber glass insulation

on the top of framing. For the homes sub-floor, subfloor is in place along with water lines and

heating ducts, an assembler nails the framing joist to the perimeter rails. They apply glue to the

floor joists, and cover the framing floor plan with composite wood floor decking. The assemblers
will nail the decking into place. A worker glues vinyl tiles onto decking flooring which comes into

different materials such as marble, ceramic, tile, carpet, laminate and wood.
