Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc.

About PENELCO

What is PENELCO?

PENELCO (Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc.) is an organization established for the

electricity needs of its members and consumers. It was established and registered with NEA

(National Electrification Administration) on 10 April 1990 under the authority of PD 269.

Purpose of PENELCO

The purpose of PENELCO is to inform each member (member) and consumers

(consumers) knowledge about our cooperative and its Policies so that it will be correct and

meaningful to her cooperative perspective.

We believe that members and buyers with sufficient knowledge

and understanding of the things they are referring to will be

cooperative with the success of cooperative activities and the

electrification program. It is not uncommon for many today that

cooperative operations are good. This is due to the continued collaboration of consumers /

consumers and the promotion of cooperative programs. Only the loyal executives of the

Management and staff in their important duties and further cooperation of consumers / members

are required to maintain, promptly, and reliably support the service from KOOPERATIBA.

1. Brighten through electricity all its constituents.

2. Expand and enrich the services provided by buyers and members.

Two (2) important cooperative policies that when violated will cause the breakdown of the

electricity service

 Payment policy

 Terms of use for illegal connections and similar.

3. Provide good and fast service to consumers / members.

The PENELCO area consists of 12 towns - Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal,

Abucay, Balanga, Pilar, Orion, Limay, Mariveles, Bagac and Morong.

The Directorate of PENELCO now seeks to reach its members and consumers in order to

communicate its policies so that their views on cooperatives are correct.

History of PENELCO

The Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PENELCO) is an organization established for

the needs of its members and consumers. This is only one of the 119 Electric Coop established

throughout the Philippines under the pretext of Presidential Decree No. 269 under the

administration of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) which is a government

agency.

PENELCO is now Bataan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BATELCO) who was forced to

close due to the severe financial crisis. It does not regularly impose amortization on the NEA of

its capital; nor is it able to pay enough for the NPC where it purchases electricity that is also

being sold "retail" to consumers. It has been closed on March 27, 1990 which signals to establish

PENELCO and is registered on April 10, 1990. At the same time the registration of PENELCO is

the development of seven (7) Interim Board of Directors who come from different sectors from

in 12 towns of Bataan.
PENELCO, from low level began to act and with the help of members, Mayor, Captains,

as well as Governor gradually rose and in 1991 it gained the title of "Most Improved Coop" in

the Award Gawad provided of the NEA.

Since then, PENELCO has been awarded annually, due to the ever-increasing system

loss. From Category D, it ranks Category B and ranks the Category "A plus" the highest level,

becoming the country's Most Outstanding Electric Cooperative from 2001 to 2011, and in 2012 it

gained the Hall of Fame Electric Cooperative Award.

PENELCO is the first cooperative in the country to receive 100% recognition of all the

sitios and barangays of the province. Currently, PENELCO has 294 staff serving 166,201

member-consumedores (as of Dec. 2014) and continues to receive awards and recognition from

the NEA due to the loyalty of providing good consumer-service services.
