Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!

My goal today is to l
et you know about the importance of protecting endangered an
imals like sea otters and pay more attention to them. And
I think you will fall in love with them after my speech.
Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon, this lovely creature is called
sea otters, you can usually find them …..and they are highly
intelligent animals. However, unfortunately, they are on the verge of
extinction/they are dying.

These are indeed some of the loveliest animals on the planet.

These lovely animals Often on the water and pat their
cheeks. Maybe that’s why they have small faces that people
want to get. Actually they are just cleaning their beards.
However, there are still many sea otters being killed for
every year——
some people don’t realize the importance of sea otters’ be
nefits to the nature and the whole humans.

In addition, they are highly intelligent and we can learn a lot from
them.
Second, some smart behaviors of sea otters convince us that
humans could learn from sea otters and the nature. One wi
se behavior is that when a group of sea otters have to le
ave their habitats because of some factors like predators or
weather, they will choose some smart sea otters to stay t
o think over and then find out why the habitat becomes ina
ppropriate for living. And then they share the result so th
at every sea otter can understand the situation and try to
avoid it next time. By this behavior reflects spirits like
cooperation, solidarity and rethinking. It is really worthy
for humans to learn these spirits from sea otters to make
the world more beautiful and peaceful.
Another interesting behavior is that they use seaweeds to tw
ine themselves so that they couldn’t flow away when they s
leep on the sea. It is a very smart and creative idea amo
ng animals and it is also very useful, right? They use wha
t they have to reach their goals smartly and conveniently.
So in our own life, we should also try to use common thin
gs for us to create a useful world like sea otters. I thi
nk sea otters teach us a lot about life and living.

More importantly, they are the keystone species in the eco-system

First, sea otters are the important members of water ecosyst
em and make contributions to the ecological balance. As ther
e are few sea otters in the sea, the number of organisms
they eat increases a lot year by year. These organisms eat
lots of seaweeds so that the seaweeds couldn’t provide en
ough oxygen for other organisms and absorb carbon dioxide. S
o the balanced number of sea otters is important to the ec
osystem and also to the carbon—oxygen balance.

Although sea otters are lovely and make contributions to the

world, the hunting of them has lasted for a long time. W
hen I was a child, I read a book called Island of the Bl
ue Dolphins. In the story, the heroine’s family was broken
by the sea otter hunters who came and kill many sea otte
rs and villagers. The number of sea otters near the island
dropped for many years and the environment also went worse
. Sea otters’ skins are known as the most expensive materi
al that are used to make warm clothes and fashion handbags
because of their density and rarity. Hunters try every mea
ns to kill them and peel off their skins for wealthy peopl
e to buy. Until 2000, there are only about 1,700 sea otter
s in the world. We should think about seriously, are the t
oo much hunting necessary for peoples’ life? Maybe it is m
ore important for humans to stop hunting too much and turn
to start protecting sea otters.

A saying said that, “Humans regard animals as worthy of pr

otection only when they are on the verge of extinction.” D
on’t wait until endangered animals only live in books. I
urge/call
on./invite protect them and make friends with animals and t
he nature. And the world will be more and more colorful.

Thanks for listening! Have a good afternoon!
