S OUTDOOR SKILLS INSTRUCTION CLIMBING/RAPPELLING OUTDOOR SKILLS INSTRUCTION CLIMBING/RAPPELLING Introduction The Boy Scouts of America has‘censered many of its activities around the ‘outdodes: Scouts and Scoutets aré seeking new Svays to test their phys- ical and mental abil. ‘This manual is designed to help create an awareness of the proper use of equipment and needed skills to participate in these activities. It is impor- tant that participants in this course understand the necessity of proper raining and equipment use. Note to the user of this manual: ‘This manual is one in a series of skills manwals, Rach manual may be used sepa- rately, or sessions may be mixed. Each manual covers a broad spectrum of topics. ‘You will note that there are no time schedules listed, The training should be con- ducted according to the ability of the participants to complete the topics. These sessions may be conducted by any qualified Scouter. You are encouraged to recruit experts to assist in instructing. Use the outlines as guides to create @ hands- ‘on learning experience.
