Ahead of game, I've been doing quite a bit of reading, note taking, and research. Of course, research in this sense means episodes of
Samurai Champloo, the high art of Keanu Reeves in 47 Ronin, and the thematically related Untouchables.

I also decided to get industrious with some rumors that your characters would have heard on the roads or in the courts before arriving
at the city itself. Maybe your character never paid attention to idle talk like this before, but after learning that their own destiny would
soon lead them to Ryoko Owari, perhaps they shouldn't be so quick to dismiss a rumor that might possibly hold some truth...

And at least one of them definitely does!

The Crane Duelist heard...

1. Ramblings from a swordsmith - "You'll never believe what an Emerald Magistrate found in the
rice fields of Ryoko Owari – the corpse of a goblin. Freshly dead – and so close to the city!"

2. Scandal at a dinner party - "Shosuro Kimi always struts around flaunJng her status as the
Governor’s daughter. What would happen if the people learned that she was really the daughter
of a fireman?"

3. Rumors in a dojo - "Some say Iuchi Sadako is to become sensei for a new school in the city. A
mountain cannot learn paJence from a ball of clay. Perhaps the Unicorn have returned with too
much sand in their eyes... but more likely someone is simply repaying a debt to the Iuchis."

4. Wisdom from a temple - "The Provincial Governor will soon reJre his sword and his post over
the City of Green Walls to shave his head and walk the Path. Most will assume it must be shame
or simple blackmail, but a flower will oYen use its preZy petals to draw the eye away from its
thorns."

5. ChaZer from an inn - "Have you noJced that Lean Meat isn’t gambling as oYen these days? I
hear it's because so much of his Jme is consumed in a torrid affair with Watchful!"

6. Whispers at a theater - "Have you read Kitsuki Jotomon's most recent poem? I personally think
it's about the Burning Sands, but I heard Yogo Osako thinks it's about an intense desire for the
leader of Temple Road. She certainly does have a fondness for commoners but a firemen is low
even for her!"
