This study analyzed the production performance and feeding costs of cattle and buffalo at the Gowshala dairy farm of Banaras Hindu University from 2013 to 2018. The findings showed that milk production was highest in 2016 when animal numbers were also highest. Crossbred cows contributed most to milk production and had the highest average daily milk yield. Sahiwal cattle yielded the most milk per day in 2018 while Murrah buffalo yielded the most in 2018. Feeding costs accounted for over 75% of total variable costs and were highest in 2017 at over 10 million rupees. Feeding costs fluctuated monthly with the highest costs occurring between April and July.
