Background : Atherosclerosis is the main contributor to the pathogenesis of coronary heart

Objective : To prove the effect of Java ginseng (Talinum triangulare) leaves extract against the
thickness on the aortic wall of atherosclerotic rats.

Methods : True Experimental with post-test control group design. The samples were divided into
4 groups. The positive group was given a high-cholesterol diet, while group 1, 2, and 3 were given
high-cholesterol diet and Java ginseng (Talinum triangulare) leaves extract as much as 25, 50, and
100 (mg/200gBB/day).

Result : Of the one way ANOVA test results, it was found significant effect (p<0.05). Results of
post hoc test was found significant of differences (p<0.05) in each group of treatment. It means,
the extract of the leaves of Java ginseng influence the thickness of aortic wall of atherosclerosis
rats. The results of linear regression was obtained R2 = 0.69 (the Java ginseng (Talinum
triangulare) leaves extract influence as much as 69% while 31% refers on the other factors that
were not being studied).
