Example for Theorem #7

Given: VI= CE
IC VE
Proof: Angle V is Congruent
To angle E.
*Let say angle V is equal to 10x+9 Substitution:
and angle E is equal to 13x-12. Angle V=10x+9
Angle V=10x+9 Angle E=13y-12 =10(7)+9
Angle V=Angle E =70+9
10x+9=13x-12 Angle V=79
12+9=13x-10x Angle E=13x-12
21=3x =13(7)-12
3 =91-12
y=7 Angle E=79
Theorem 9. The diagonals of an Isosceles Trapezoid are congruent.

Given: AC=BD Proof:AC=BD

AC=5x+4 AC=5x+4 BD=8x-8
BD=8x-8 5x+4=8x-8
Substitution: 5x-8x=-8-4
AC=5(4)+4 -3x=-12
=20+4 x=24 -3x=-12
BD=8(4)-8 -3
=32-8 x=24 X=4
Example for Theorem #9

Given: CT=IE Proof:CT=IE

CT=40n-100 CT=40n-100 IE=50n-140
IE=50n-140 40n-100=50n-140
Substitution: 140-100=50n-40
CT=40n-100 =40(4)-100 40=10n
=160-100 x=60 40=10n
IE=50n-140 =50(4)-140 10
=200-140 x=24 n=4

Theorem 7.The base angle of an Isosceles Trapezoid are
congruent

Given: AB= CD
BC AD
Proof: Angle A is Congruent
To angle D.
*Let say angle A is equal to 6y+5 Substitution:
and angle D is equal to 9y-10. Angle A=6y+5
Angle A=6y+5 Angle D= 9y-10 =6(5)+5
Angle A=Angle D =30+5
6y+5=9y-10 Angle A=35
5+10=9y-6y Angle D=9y-10
15=3y =9(5)-10
3 =45-10
y=5 Angle D=35
