Learning Session: Introduction and Historical Perspective of Science Trends

My significant learning and insights about the session/interaction in relation to my roles and
responsibilities as Science? Chemistry Teacher?

The trends in science teaching became known and interesting to discover. Thus, in the historical
perspectives of science trends, before we have the what we called informal education until our
country was colonized by the American. The Americans had great influence in the educational
system of our country. The progress of science and technology here n the Philippines continued
under the American rule of the islands. Science during the American period was inclined towards
agriculture, food processing, forestry, medicine and pharmacy. Since then the science education
in our country continues as what had influence by the Americans. Until such time the trends in
science teaching change as time goes by. Many technologies being discovered and applied in the
teaching of science especially in school.

How do I intend to apply my learning from this session/interaction? What are the possible next
those pr
steps that I will do when I get back to my station/school?

Knowing the history of the trends in science teaching had a great significance to as teachers
especially in teaching the science subject. I will use this information by sharing this to my students
so they can appreciate the importance of science and how its fragments developed. It is very
interesting to know the history of science and how it evolves generations to generations. I will tell
the students that we in this new generations we are lucky enough to experience and use the great
inventions of the former scientists, persons and technologies that was developed during those
previous decades.

What kind of support/assistance will I need from my Principals, colleagues and/or others to
enable me to implement what I have learned?

The support and assistance that I need from them is that I encourage them to teach science with
heart and inspire students so that students will become determined in learning science because
science is an interesting subject to learn. I need their support and powerful minds to think and
share some ideas on how to teach science in a more meaningful way. Also we need to help one
another by giving suggestions on how can we be more effective in teaching the science subject not
just in school but in everywhere that we see the product of science.
