Are there any statistics to show that this is a problem?


According to statistics in the US, annual fast food sales are in the area of $160 billion. Current research
suggests that consumption of junk food contributes to an increased risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease and
can negatively impact energy levels and emotional well-being.

What, if any, are the signs of addiction?


The first sign of addiction is the impulse to eat unusually large amounts of food in a short period of time.
Consumers are less likely to eat healthy foods like fruit or vegetables and satisfied their appetite with junk
food.

Are there any interesting personal stories relating to this issue?


Marta Freuder (67), a retired teacher, described how junk food caught her attention "Just like this type of food
[fast food] when I'm passing through some central place, and I'm tempted, but I do it very sporadically"

How should you treat someone with this problem?


The best way to treat this problem is to exercise regularly and eat many nutritious foods, such as vegetables,
fruits, legumes, fish, nuts and seeds, and whole grains. Someone addicted should make a change in your
lifestyle instead of starting a diet and talk to a licensed nutritionist and therapist.
