NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF

DRRM MULTI- HAZARD DRILLS

I. Introduction:
No one knows what, when and where disasters may happen. Readiness is
indeed a very significant factor to preclude unexpected circumstances specially the
occurrence of disasters.
Fire is one of the significant things we needed in our daily living. But, it can also
ruin properties and lives of people in other ways. Climate change will bring about more,
recurrent and destructive calamities, hence, Republic 10121, also known as "an act
strengthening the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System,
providing for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Framework
and institutionalizing the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan,
appropriating funds therefor and for other purposes" is a timely and relevant policy
that would prepare the country for effects and impacts of climate change. It has taken
disaster risk reduction and management at the forefront of national and local
development plans and policies.
Through the fire drill, people will be able to know how to prevent fire outbreak
and also what to do during and after. So we need is to be careful and conscious to
forestall this kind of circumstance.

II. Activities Undertaken

Schools conduct fire drills annually to be sure everyone in the place knows how
to prevent fire outbreak and what to do during the occurrence of such happenings. In line
with this activity, Halayhayin Elementary School conducted fire drill in the school last July
19, 2018 at 10:00 o'clock in the morning. It was actively participated by kinder to grade VI
pupils, teachers and other school personnel.
The activity started by calling all the participants to gather in the school covered
court. The MDRRMC- Pililla (Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management
Committee) oriented the participants about the abovementioned topic. They provided
information about the causes of fires, how to prevent and the safety precautionary
measures during and after the fire outbreak. They also oriented the participants on the
proper use of fire extinguisher and how to get out of the building when there is a fire

outbreak. They explain the objectives of having the activity. They also provided instances
on occurrence of fire and the best way to do to manage such situations.

III. Conclusions
The fire drill was successfully done with the cooperation of the pupils, teachers
and other school personnel. The activity inculcated different informations about the topic
in which the participants can bring to their homes and share with their families too. Being
informed made them ready and prepared if this thing happen. It can also lessen the
damages of properties and impact on the emotional state of people.

IV. Recommendation

Every school should practice this activity to be aware and always ready about
this incident. It should be done yearly to remind the people about what to do to prevent or
at least lessen this kind of circumstance. In this simple way of being informed, we can
help our fellowmen and community.
