NUMBER PROBLEM
1. The sum of the numerator and denominator of a certain fraction is 28. If 2 is
added to the numerator and subtracted from the denominator, the value of the
resulting fraction is 5/2. Find the original fraction.
2. The difference between two numbers is 8. Twice the smaller plus three times the
larger is 109. What are the numbers?

GEOMETRY
3. The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 38 cm. The total length of the two equal
legs is 6 more than thrice the length of the base. Find the length of the three
sides.

AGE PROBLEM
4. The sum of the ages of a father and his son is 57 years. If the son lives to be as
old as his father is now, and if they are then alive, the sum of their ages will be
103. Find their present ages.

INVESTMENT PROBLEM
5. A total of P 12 000 is invested in two stocks, one of which returns 8 % per year
and the other 12 % per year. How much has been invested in each stock if the
income from the 8 % stock is P 3 more than the income from the 12 % stock?
