ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
INTRODUCTION

The Philippines’ cultural, political, and national history is unique and special in its own
right. It is important for us to understand our local history for us to know our identity and
it also reflects our development. And Bacolod as a popular city, has its own amenities
and local pride to be showcased to tourists and also for the youth as part of their history
as young settlers. It is important for us to know our history so we could feel involved in
the growth and success of the the city.

That is why we have our own festivities and founding day to commemorate our history.

The Bacolod Public Plaza has been a sanctuary of Bacolodnons as an area that started
festivities the city held. It is strategically located at the center of the city with the purpose
of uniting giving, giving them the symbol of pride that the Bacolodnons achieved.

The Plaza is a place we just pass by without knowing its symbolism and importance to us,
which is why studying the Plaza is important so we will gain a new perspective to us
Bacolodnons on how rich our history is.

ANALYSIS
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

We have always passed by the Plaza without knowing its significance and what it really
is. But as we conducted our study about it, we have learned much deeper and it has
opened our eyes to appreciating its beauty and its purpose. We have learned the changes
of the plaza along with its people, how it affects them in their daily lives, and how it has
become a place for them to find entertainment and happiness. Another result of our study
is that it also gives us motivation as future architects to help and maintain the center of
our city’s happiness as the Plaza reflects not only our city, but who we are as citizens of
Bacolod.
