ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS (Part 1)


Thoughtfully consider each of the following ‘Essential Questions’ that educators
ponder. Respond to each question with a 1 paragraph (5-7 sentences) written
reflection.
1. Who am I?
I am a person who loves art and highly values creativity. I love to create and build
new things. I love to study metacognition and happiness. I also highly value religion
and my belief in God. I have found this to be my biggest source of happiness.

Philosophy or Philosophies:
Idealism, Pragmatism, Neo-Thomism

2. What motivates me?


The rush of accomplishing something motivates me. I am also very motivated by
finding out that I have helped someone to feel better about themselves. I strive to
help people be comfortable with their uniqueness and realize their value. I am
motivated to work with individuals. I love the feeling of helping someone to help
themself. In other word “teaching a man to fish” motivates me, but I also love the
process of fishing with the man.

Idealism, Existentialism

3. How do I learn?

I learn best with hands on activities. I like the opportunity to move around and be
creative. I also love learning statistics and facts. I often make connections with those
facts into my everyday life. I learn using analogies as well. It helps me to compare an
unfamiliar concept with a more familiar one.
