Background: Tamizh Siddha Varmam therapy is a branch of Ancient Tamizh Siddha Medicine,
which is useful on present days to treat and cure many kind of diseases, especially in nervous disorders

& musculoskeletal. We can shortly say its an excellent therapy for mind, soul & body. Ayurvedam is

one of our Ancient Indian System Of Medicine same like SiddhaMaruththuvam.

Objective: This paper brings the role of Varmam Therapy and Ayurvedic intervention in the
management of Sciatica.

Methods: Treating Sciatica with combination of Varmam & Ayurvedic regimen. Manipulated
Varmam Points: Thilartha kaalam, Kondaikkolli, 5 Mudichu thadaval, Nanganapoottu, Komberi,

Mannai adangal, Uppukkutri, Viruthi.

Abhayanga with our own prepared pain relief oil, Patrapinda swedana for 5 days followed by podikizhi

10 days and Abhayadi modakavati 2 stat for virechana were used as Ayurvedic Panchakarma

procedure. Dhanvanthara 101 avarti BD, Sahacharadi kasaya 45ml BD,Amrthothara kasshayam and

Chandrapraba vati 2 tab BD, Gandhathailam tab softcap 1 TDS were given for 3 weeks as oral

medicine. Walking distance and SLR test were taken for assessment parameter, VAS score was adopted

for pain.

Results: Before treatment patient was not able to walk even 4 to 5 steps due to severe pain and
patients SLR were 300 of left side. After 3 weeks treatment she can walk without support and no

difficulty found, SLR changed to 900 and patient got 90% relief in pain.

Conclusion: This case report showed that combined Tamizh SiddhaVarmam therapy along with
Ayurveda is a pioneering work which throws light upon the strength of Integrated Indian Medicinal

system.
