Summer is a time to relax, enjoy the outdoors, spend time with family and friends, and of course, read! Summer reading
helps to minimize the summer “slide” and keeps students on track for success in the fall. There is no list of “required” books
to read. Rather, we want students to continue to discover their reading identities and build their reading stamina. Research
shows that this happens when students read books of their choosing. Below are ways for students to grow as readers over
the summer!
The HBB 2019 Summer Reading Padlet, found through the summer reading link on the school’s
website, is an online bulletin board for our HBB readers. Students can post a picture of what they are
reading or a book recommendation. If you have trouble posting, email it to Mrs. Maddigan
(maddigan@middleboro.k12.ma.us), and she will post it for you. Check the padlet frequently to see
what others are reading!
