two guitars and piano. Charles will be standing off to the side facing the other guitarist and pianist, and in clear sight of the orchestra. The melody is played freely and rubato. All transitions to subsequent sections will be cued by Charles.
-Orchestra- All Strings and Horns play
“con sordino.” All parts are rubato. The sections with stemless black notes are to be played as fast as possible and repeated until the next section. Irregularities are encouraged and inevitable. The sections with whole notes are to be played long and slow, but not too slow, it’s important to have multiple repetitions of the section.
-The extended techniques for the strings
will be discussed in rehearsal.
-Dynamics will also be discussed. A
blending of the the elements is important, as well as the proper placement and audibility of the melody on top of orchestra.
