VISION

The Lucena Diocesan Social Action Center Inc. (LuDiSAC), in line with the Diocesan
Vision to form a community disciples of Christ following the example of Mary, envisions a
Christian community where the dignity of people is respected, where the basic needs of people
are met and where justice, peace and love of Christ radiate.

A.1. MISSION

The Social Action Center Commits itself for total human development with preferential
option and love for the poor in collaboration with the Diocesan Pastoral Council in general and
the Diocesan Service Commission in particular, through a committed staff and efficient office
operations in implementing the different programs.
B. PROGRAM GOALS/ POLICIES

Guided by the thrust of the Diocese of Lucena which is geared towards the building up and
strengthening of the Munting Sambayanang Kristiyano (MSK), the Social Action Center shall
help develop self-confidence and promote self-reliance among the people being served and
eventually become vital partners in enhancing a better quality of life. The programs should have
the following characteristics.

 Developmental (Self Reliant Communities)
 Participative (Effectivity)
 Sustainability (Continuity)

C. About LuDiSAC

The Lucena Diocesan Social Action Center, Inc. is the social action arm of the Diocese of
Lucena for almost 42 years. Its primary mandate is to serve the greater number of society
especially the poor and the less privileged people. It is also known as the Service Commission of
the Diocese of Lucena in which members are composed of laity that promote the Center’s
programs and services in the parish level through the Parish Service Committee (PSC).

The Diocese of Lucena is composed of thirty six (36) parishes representing 16

municipalities of the Quezon Province.

Rev. Msgr. Melecio V. Verastigue, P.C. (SAC Director) presently headed the LuDiSAC as
appointed by the Most. Rev. EMILI Z. MARQUEZ D.D. (Bishop of Lucena).

The Social Action Center commits itself for total human development with preferential

D. PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

I. ALAY KAPWA “Treasure Sharing and Evangelization”

 Alay Kapwa (AK) is a concrete expression of the very spirit that Christ
has shown in His act of redemption. Every Christian is called to make
Christ’s love concrete by sharing his time, talent and treasure as
expressions of participation in redemptive act of Jesus Christ.
 It seeks to promote offering (alay) to our poor brethren (Kapwa) of what
we have expressing our love for them as shown by Jesus Christ.

II. ALAY KAPWA “Justice and Peace, Integrity of Creation and Advocacy”

 this component includes Information, Education and Communication

campaign program for the promotion of Human Rights, Justice and Peace,
Environmental protection, Issue Advocacy and Political Education.
